When people call and don't leave a voice mail message and I don't really care enough to search my missed calls list and call them back!??

With so many telemarketers calling these days-- who bothers to answer unknown numbers on their caller ID?-- I don't -- I like to screen every call and I think most people are the same.

If their call wasn't important enough to leave a voice message-- then I don't bother calling them back--- most of the time--
its nice being booked 2 weeks in advance.

I used to break my neck to catch every call that came in. Now after 11 years I'm like you. The repeat customers will leave a message. The price shoppers will find somebody else, and the ones that want it done now and want it done cheap will call Sears.

I also used to try to work in every single customer if my life depended on it. Now I work 9-4 and the rest can wait. I hate to sound ungrateful but I just cant do the long days anymore. Lifes too short to work yourself into an early grave.

I don't listen to a message all of the time. I just call back. So I call back those that don't leave a message.

I jump over desks in a single bound just to grab the phone. ;)

OK so maybe I wait until three or four lines are lit before I grab for it.

It sounds like you plateaued with your business.. have you considered tweaking it to get a higher job average. Some of those jobs that aren't getting answered may be decent size jobs. If you find a way to answer all your calls and cherry pick by having higher prices/minimum, you can maximize your daily potential. Nothing worse than answering a minimum charge job call, when a $500-$800 job moved on cause there was no one picking up.

If you are not looking to add more trucks it would be a good way to increase profits..
