the check engine light came on and i took it to the dealer. it turns out that the fuel tank is rusting and clogging up the filter causing the engine to go to idle. sounds like a strange problem but after googling it they have know about the problem for many years and have just never addressed it. their solution is for me to pay them to remove the tank and seal the inside with some kind of special paint. what a rip. if you don't take care of it you can cause major problems with the fuel rail and pump costing as much as 10k to fix. mine is the isuzu npr.
Here are the signs, when you change out the fuel filter lots of large and small specks fall out. i thought it was just junk in the fuel.
