Just found out someone is screwing with our companies SEO deliberatly damaging us with Google..

Hoody just called and let me know someone has been screwing with our seo deliberately setting up bad links that have harmed our rating on google etc. Not sure how to find out who but messing with a mans family and his livelihood is way out of bounds. I have an idea who but how do I prove it? FredC your the master guru you know how to find someone screwing with our business?

Most of the time you can't.............unless you happen to own one of the properties where a link was placed.....or the owner will take the time to investigate it and give you info

that said almost every time I've seen someone make this claim there is a more benign explanation

best way to handle it is just add the links to a goole disavow file and move on

He did that already but it was defiantly not benign I'll have Steven send me what he found.,over 4o bad links.Something I hadn't ever even thought someone would do.

Not 40, I estimate it's been happening for about 3 months now, but that's just a guess from how I track everything. It's well over 400 links so far and counting that I certainly didn't create. Mainly tier 3 or 4 type pointed right at the money site. Found them through a few tools Spyglass, Webmaster Tools, and a few other backlink checking programs I use to see where various links are as far as getting indexed. A few are benign for now but certainly the majority aren't. Disavowed and keep working at it.

That happens "naturally" all the time..........................PM me athe list of 10 of the "worst"..................people scrape and feed for content for low quality sites

40.....400 that is still nothing if someone who knew what they were doing was practicing negative seo..................and dropping shitty links isn't how you do it anyway

You would probably find even more if you used a link checker with its own crawler.

Also just because a link is found on those tiers doesn't mean it is a negative ....

I took a random sampling of the less than desirable links (compiled using spyglass/majestic) pointing at superior and ALL that I have manually checked appear to be scraped/directory listings or created prior to 2014. Not only that but they were obviously bought as packages to help you at that time.....by you, hoody, some other seo guy IDK.......not as a negative SEO attempt
