I must have 40 or more sites that I need a password to participate on..

Banking, shopping, googles, yahoos, MB stuff, my biz sites, cell phone, amazon, legal stuff etc..

I have about 6 or so passwords that I use between them and have my way of keeping track but am curious as to what others do?

how many passwords to you use?

written down on paper and stashed somewhere?

all in your head?

stored on your PC? or other device?

a good article on the subject in Wired this month..

I have half a dozen too, all stored in my head and loosely grouped into similar themes to reduce confusion.

It's a drama when they force a reset.

I keep all my passwords (a couple of dozen or so) in an encrypted text file. Commonly used passwords are copied to my Mac Keychain, which is also encrypted, so that I don't have to refer to the master list too often. I change most all the passwords every month, with a few only twice a year.

I'm very disappointed!

All these answers and nobody yet posted their actual password.

If you can also provide the account and social security numbers, it will be much appreciated :winky:.

You don't even need all that info Ofer....

I just got a call from one of my banks asking me about purchases I made.

So they list hundreds of dollars worth of stuff being purchased by me....150 miles away...with my business debit card that is in my pocket at the moment.

"They" reproduced my card and went "shopping". I'm glad my bank caught the f-ers. Good thing I don't know who it was...

I keep a excell spread sheet for all the SEO passwords.

I had a IT tech share this with me a few years back
For passwords that change every 90 days reset them at one setting
He suggest this
month word year symbol

So a example would be 12firestone2012%

Most security systems give you 3 attempts before they lock you out. So if you forget you can simply go up or back a month.

I have been doing this for the last 3 years works like a charm. Just don't use family names or things people might associate with you as a person.

Most of my passwords are in an obscure language that I learned when growing up in Africa.

I store them with my own encryption clues and hints for example if my favorite desert was chunkiemonkie the clue would be ice-cream and the PW would be chunk1em0nk1e

Works for me.
