When I was a kid I climbed up on top of our house and jump with my Superman cape on me. I flew for what must have been tenths of a second (telemetry readings were negligible)....it was glorious!
Then all of the sudden the earth crashed into me. Gravity...she's a muthur foker! I had only thought through flight, not the landing.
I believe it's why I'm the shortest of the boys in our family.

I painfully found the earth, in the process also validating gravity.
