You guys out there who have built things, does one or possible two automotive mufflers come close to the suppression that a blower silencer will do (like a Universal Silencer)? Thanks.

Two mufflers can do a good job of quieting the noise out the end but the placement is important in my opinion. As you see with the Judsons and Bob's Genies the first muffler should be directly mounted to the blower. Too much space between the blower and muffler seems to allow alot of noise to escape through the piping before it is silenced. That being said I have a unit with a 45 blower and 2 mufflers, it is not as quiet as when it had the Stoddard silencer.

Scott;

The correct size of either type, can properly silence a blower.

We have used both types on TM's.

After seeing several blower failures from "universal" silencers,

we have decided to use ONLY all-stainless designs.

They don't corrode and restrict the blower flow.
