My day with a browning carpet

The other day I cleaned one of my high end customers. His house consists of all white carpet with some areas showing wear from heavy traction. So I cleaned the place with my Nano the acid rinsed it. Applied CTI protectant got the check and went on my way.

Early the next morning the customer calls me and says, "All the dirt came back". Thinking to myself that it was just wear I rolled my eyes and didn't bother to argue with him. I just replied, "I'll be out there later this afternoon and make it right for you." I'm glad I said that and not argued because when I walked in there were entire large portions of the carpet had browned out.

I immediately recognized it as alkali browning. I explained to the customer that it was due to he heavy minerals in his Palo Cedro well water. I thought at first maybe my chem injection system metering was screwed up and explained that rinse may not have mixed properly. I then remembered he had me apply protectant. The water I used for the protectant was not run through the acid rinse when applied. I could tell this was the reason because on the parts I applied the protectant the heaviest had turned the brownest.

How did I fix this you ask... Never fear Damon's here.

I whipped out the Orbot, put on a Microbeast microfiber pad, filled the tank with a little Angry Lemon (mixes at the awesome dilution rate of 1oz per gallon) and went on too make some good vibrations. The customer was thrilled to magically watch all the brown disappear like oysters on Mikey's dinner plate. I called him today to make sure everything still looked good. He was happy.

Sorry, no pics. I was very tired and just wanted to get it fixed and head home. Plus, I had to go to the bathroom.

Question for you guys. Should we be mixing our protectant spray with the rinse juice? From this experience I just shared I'm saying yes.

hmm good outcome, but not convinced tapwater would cause pH browning or a 12pH encap corrected a pH problem
This well water is pretty hard stuff. I don't carry a softener system on my van. This is the first time this happened to me. The only think I can think is it was the protectant mix.

Don’t mix any acid rinse/detergent/anything with your protector...it will diminish or completely inactivate your protector. Hard water can cause protector to coagulate, and at times I’ve seen it turn protector tan, but that’s rare.

It would be worth talking to CTI about it, and maybe testing the water from that location and mixing it with your protector and observing the solution in a clean glass container.

Or, maybe it was just wicking. The means that fixed it leads me to think that.

There is another issue at hand that I won’t post. Message me if you want to know.

Neither

The idiot didn't rinse out all of his prespray. Anyone remember the "browning" on his crappy poly rug? FKtard!

Just rinse out your junk properly. I bet you do triangle passes on the wet pass. Admit it!

IF it is browning...your california water caused it, whether it be in the well or tap. Get a water softener instead of blowing the money on all the rusted up toys

I'm still on my first cup of coffee, so please don't forgive me for my rudeness!

Matt, stop being an idiot. I went slow and rinsed properly. I'm pretty sure it was the water used in the protectant.

How long did it take to convince you that 6flow was the reason your 870 was overheating

And I’ll always be a MB idiot. Quit being in denial. You’re no better
I have no idea what you are talking about. Are you having conversations with the voices in your head?

Unless that water was actually brown that you mixed up with your CTI protectant, and I'm really doubting that theory

I'm thinking plugged up devastator or plugged up blower protection filter or one of your 18 to the door hoses was off or your waist tank was open or your jets fell off your wand or some other reason the cause over wetting

I just think he wanded like a rabbit
Nope. The guy stood over me the entire time and watched me. I did extra dry passes. It was probably all in vein since I applied the protectant.......

hey, am I even spelling protectant correctly? Is it portectent? My spell checker keeps saying both are wrong.
