The other day I cleaned one of my high end customers. His house consists of all white carpet with some areas showing wear from heavy traction. So I cleaned the place with my Nano the acid rinsed it. Applied CTI protectant got the check and went on my way.
Early the next morning the customer calls me and says, "All the dirt came back". Thinking to myself that it was just wear I rolled my eyes and didn't bother to argue with him. I just replied, "I'll be out there later this afternoon and make it right for you." I'm glad I said that and not argued because when I walked in there were entire large portions of the carpet had browned out.
I immediately recognized it as alkali browning. I explained to the customer that it was due to he heavy minerals in his Palo Cedro well water. I thought at first maybe my chem injection system metering was screwed up and explained that rinse may not have mixed properly. I then remembered he had me apply protectant. The water I used for the protectant was not run through the acid rinse when applied. I could tell this was the reason because on the parts I applied the protectant the heaviest had turned the brownest.
How did I fix this you ask... Never fear Damon's here.
I whipped out the Orbot, put on a Microbeast microfiber pad, filled the tank with a little Angry Lemon (mixes at the awesome dilution rate of 1oz per gallon) and went on too make some good vibrations. The customer was thrilled to magically watch all the brown disappear like oysters on Mikey's dinner plate. I called him today to make sure everything still looked good. He was happy.
Sorry, no pics. I was very tired and just wanted to get it fixed and head home. Plus, I had to go to the bathroom.
Question for you guys. Should we be mixing our protectant spray with the rinse juice? From this experience I just shared I'm saying yes.
