I tru to light the pilot on the heater and it doesnt light. I use a lighter to light it and no pilot. I then start cleaning with cold water and 10 min later it lights. Could this be the thermo couple? Please let me know. The unit is 6 months old.

I would replace the thermocouple.

You can buy them at any hardware store for a few bucks.

Make sure the end in the thermostat is all the way in before tightening

and adjust the the other end as close or even into the pilot light as you can.

I put a small mirror (Get one out of your make up)under mine angled to see the pilot.

So, I can easily see how it is lighting.

Makes life easier.

(They should come with this feature)

Les why does this happen? What should I do so it doesnt happen tomorrow morning.

gas is in the hose if you turn off the tank valve first then the heater, the pilot lite will burn the gas out of the hose.

then you have to prime the hose to get the air out it takes some time.

just turn the heater off first then the gas valve on the tank.

because if it "charges" the hose to quick...it will shut off the valve....its a safety feature so that a tank cant just unload at a high rate
