OK got me curious and interested

how do you calculate the cost?
are the solar panels "forever"?
(meaning they'll last a generation without replacement)
What's the cost to buy and have them professionally installed and wired?
need batteries to charge?
if so, what's the cost and life cycle on them?

what would the equivalent cost of electric be to power the same LED lights you're using ?
(using national average of 11-12 cents pr KWh)

I'm genuinely curious if/when all the costs of solar panels (and all ancillary components needed) how it compares to flipping a switch to power the same needs @ 12 cents KWh

thanks

I knew you would want more info just to see if I wasn't full of BS.
This is what I bought on Amazon. I cost about $1800 and I installed them myself. They are grid tied and you just plug the system into any outlet. No need for batteries. My energy bill would average about $350 per month. My bill now is about $175 a month.

The problem is you are still running the vans motor to power the unit. They are just using a generator instead of a drive shaft. No environmental difference from a regular CDs.

It's a Hybrid . . .

, no gas for the 1st 40 miles

(less environmental impact too)

I'll admit more up front cost.

So the rate is cut in almost half as is your bill. What are the solar panels doing? They just cut rate for the install...

No. The solar panels have reduced my "store bought" energy use to bring me down from tier 4 pricing to tier 1 pricing. They provide energy to my house during the expensive time OR pump extra energy back into the grid which makes my billing meter go backwards.

I have always been amazed that Toyota has not built their Prius technology into a Minivan----Mini freight and family haulers. They are so efficient in stop and go traffic. So many cargo vans spend a lot of time in stop and go traffic.
