I'll have to get some. The advancements in elec motors and pricew of gas are making going all electric very feasable.

!2 amps leaves enough to have a pump and motor on one cord and an other motor on the other.

Do they have the conical fan and need the fatter gasket?

The pic wasn't 3 stage?

I'd like to see the 1500 hour track record on some of the new motors to hit the market in comparison with Ametek-Lamb.

Good! I'm suspicious of mfgs with no track record saying they are "just as good as" an established product, unless they've really been proven.

Lee;

The "other efficient vac manufacturer" produced vac motors for Lamb for many years.

They have lots of production experience.

I just finished some preliminary testing on a brand new electric vac motor.

This vac has 147" of lift and 142 CFM.

Best of all it operates on 12 amps of current,

making it the most efficient vac motor I've seen.

I have a customer who is building several of them into an electric Truckmount.

Performance should be higher than previous designs.

UnBELIEVABLE. When I started cleaning one 2 stage motor was the standard, 100 PSI was rare with 55 PSI being more the norm. Truck mounts were few and far between. The one local distributor here didn't even sell them BUT knew a couple of guys that had them, LOL. Gosh times sure have changed. A 142 CFM out of one vac motor just blows my mind. Imagine two of them in series.

These motors should provide great performance when hooked in series.

The "tapered fan design" will increase performance even more in the series configuration for carpet cleaning.

(much higher lift while maintaining the ~140 CFM)

That is our next testing comparison .

Hey Fred?

XOM... Exxon? What do they have to do w/vac motors?

It was in response to Yoakum's post on fuel powered equipment vs portables.

Exxon is going to have a real good year and already has a strong dividend

Back on topic...

Larry what do the existing 3 stage 7.2 motors draw for current ?

On your site it says that these new motors draw 12.5 amps... Seems high if you intend on having heat and a 500 psi pump

Most common (#116103) existing high performance 7.2 vac motors draw 13.5 amps with 403 AirWatts.

This new vac LMB5A draws 12.5 amps and delivers 673 AirWatts.

HUGE 67% increase in vac power on LESS amps.

So for under 1200 bucks I could buy four of these and make a SUPER porty with the same cfm as a #5

Do you really want to hunt for 4 separate circuits?

I think most would use 2 vacs.

I have a commercial contract were almost every plug is its own circuit. shiteatinggrin

I could see going for a third vac. But, putting it on a shut off valve(like a dump valve) So, it could be used optionally for longer runs.

the only reason for blower power of a #5 is dual wanding or running from the truck, ie at distance.
If you're only 25-50ft away, 2 of these new vacs should get good results.

IF you had 2 vacs, a 500 psi pump, and a heater, even this would require 4 plugs

You can do 2 vacs and a 500 psi pump with 2 cords. If it is resi you can get hot water from the clients home.

Clarify please: Is this a Lamb-Ametek motor? Or a motor "just like" or made by a company said to produce motors "for" Lamb in the past?

I understand your desire to keep it proprietary, indeed yours is the only site on the web that has shown it, with the label turned back.

Thanks,
Lee...the troublemaker :-)

I was familiar with those motors, sharing the tapered first stage with the Infinitek motors. We took a bath on a batch of Infiniteks years ago due to overheating electronic control parts.

However this motor pulls more amps than the one Larry described.

Lee, according to another post Larry made, his new motor pulls approx. 12A when installed in a typical extractor. I don't believe his quoted current is the max for the motor. This matches what the 122176-18 would pull with between a 5/8" and a 3/4" orifice. Allthe other quoted specs match, not that it's any of my business.

The new Lamb model we received has some improvements . . .

over the the preliminary model shown on some competitive websites.

From remembering my past

These motors, unlike other electric motors, draw the most amps when NOT under load.

The harder you use them, the less amps they draw.

And it can be a huge swing

It may draw 16 wide open, and 10 closed

Carl;

While that is usually true . . .

this motor design limits the current draw when not under high vacuum conditions.

the new fan design minimizes air leakage and lessens the current draw.
