New Vacuum

One set of hallways had a new oreck in each hallway 7 total. We used these for a few months because I listened to Genny.
She didn't want to carry anything between buildings. It's the way it was set up.
Once I brought the proteam the first thing everyone us employees and tenants noticed was the noise difference. I had an employee vac with oreck first and followed with the proteam when he was done. It took half the time and picked up a lit more debris.
Over time the capets look better when we return too. The taski seems to be even better but it's size is a hindrance for steps and offices.

Do you realize that the "density" of the debris is caused by the vacuum sucking the debris down, which decreases the effectiveness of the vacuum?
Your cup clogs faster than the bag. You have a 1 inch hole compared to the whole bag that acts as a filter. And they have idiot lights to tell when it's full. And you have too many filters that clog up and need washing.
How many times did you wash them out on the ASTRO turf?
Genny was always washing her filters. What a pain.

Omg and bite me, Marty before I get started. If you have wide open areas in classrooms where desks are pushed against the walls for summer and hallways then a $352 ProTeam is the ticket. It pulls itself while driving it. The Marty Shark Liftaway is a good vacuum for tight areas for $179. If you were a janitor, you would couple those with a Nobles Scout and make short work of it.😬 I understand!

If you think any customer, resi or commercial, cares about the brand of vacuum your using, well....
Dude I'm surprised at you.
We have customers who won't let us use a vacuum that was used anywhere but their home. Same with mops.

They are billionaires I think.

I've had more common folk talk about my vacuums over the years. Yes people notice and will tell you if you talk to them. Not all but enough that I know better.

The oreck blows dust on occasion too. Or if you bump the bag dust blows off it while it's running.
Not a good look.

In Scruz we had ONE customer who would pay for a new Shark to be used in her ( Cu rant) home...

I dealt and deal with more neurotic nut jobs morn to than most.

Vacuum brands and models dont mean shit

Your understanding of how a vacuum works lacks critical thinking.
I empty the vacuum well before it's full. I washed the filters after the astroturf job.
If you empty the canister often, it will help to keep the filters clean and keep it at peak performance.

Steve- I'm always worried when we get into these discussions and you might feel you are being trolled.
I worry that someday one of these conversations will turn you into a Craig. Please. Just block me if you get anywhere near losing it. ❤️🙏

Dude...
Californians think they are so far above the rest of us don't they. Reality is you are often the worse offenders.
Anyway your filter will plug up faster by emptying it more. Best to fill it full to keep fine particles from getting to the filter.

I guess you don't know how the cyclonic action works.
However, Not all "cyclonic" vacuums are the same.

Some have filters placed in the wrong flow of the process, and these will clog up fast.- A bag vacuum would be better.
These design flaws were made to overcome excising patents by other vacuum manufacturers-- but hay- the customer won't know any better.
The Hoover and Bissell versions have these flaws.
Dyson and Shark are the best engineered.

The wife has said that I am no longer allowed to use the home vac for work so I need a new one.

Not gonna be spending a fortune on one quite yet, but have a big school job coming up soon so I need one quick.

Are any of these preferable over the others?

If you're not ready to buy something like a Pro-Team and you only have those vacuum's in the picture to pick from, I'm with Marty and would go with the Shark that has the biggest canister, except the Duo. The Duo is probably on of the best cleaning vacuum's, but almost everyone that we have had the front roller has failed, and by everyone I mean like 10 out of 11.

Damon isn't wrong when he says go with the Best Buy warranty. We have warranty through Shark, and they will replace a broken unit, but it takes at least a month to get.

Mikey us also correct on the Oreck. They are great machines. They dig deep, are light, and are cheap to fix, but they don't have tools for edging. If they did we would use them a lot more.

If you go with the Shark make sure to have extra filters on hand. We buy them through Amazon. We also make sure our employees empty the canisters and that they clean and wash the filters out every night.

Best of luck. Don't buy a Dyson, they suck!

Dyson's suck? I thought that was the whole point.

Yeah, I should have caught that and worded it differently. They are not a practical vacuum. Their tools are not easy to use or access. The machines with the ball make it impossible to get under beds and other tight areas.

The Shark is by far a superior machine in cleaning, ergonomics, and ease of use.

I sold filter queens and was the repairman too. Cyclonic action is a marketing term lol.
Filter queens just had bigger filters.

The oreck let's the air out the cloth bag which if Mike uses his much he knows the joy of beating on that bag to clean it.

The proteam and taski bags are filtered again but those filters rarely need cleaning because the bags are nicer than the oreck.

Just a recap from the morons above:

They're bragging on the Proteams. They're wrong. Proteams are NOT a good vacuum for our industry CARPET CLEANING. They are good for daily JANITORIAL work because the light dirt is on the surface of the carpet. They are crap for our need because of the amount of soil that's trapped at the bottom of the carpet. The reason being is the motor isn't on the head of the vacuum, which is needed to make the carpet vibrate, to cause the sand and soil to literally bounce to the surface. I know this because it took my dumb ass to go through 2 proteams to see the difference between those and a vacuum with a more aggressive beater bar action like a sanitaire or a cleanmax pro vacuum. Plus, the bags are STUPID SMALL. Why would a carpet cleaner use a vacuum with such a small bag, wasting money? If you're gonna use a vacuum with a bag...you need a decent size..

As for buying a shark: I'm not a fan of them because they don't have bags, but you can't deny the feedback of performance. It's certainly better than using your wife's vacuum. Now go clean your own carpet at your house today because you just brought in some NASTY on your own floor from that vacuum

I resemble that remark.
