Just a recap from the morons above:

They're bragging on the Proteams. They're wrong. Proteams are NOT a good vacuum for our industry CARPET CLEANING. They are good for daily JANITORIAL work because the light dirt is on the surface of the carpet. They are crap for our need because of the amount of soil that's trapped at the bottom of the carpet. The reason being is the motor isn't on the head of the vacuum, which is needed to make the carpet vibrate, to cause the sand and soil to literally bounce to the surface. I know this because it took my dumb ass to go through 2 proteams to see the difference between those and a vacuum with a more aggressive beater bar action like a sanitaire or a cleanmax pro vacuum. Plus, the bags are STUPID SMALL. Why would a carpet cleaner use a vacuum with such a small bag, wasting money? If you're gonna use a vacuum with a bag...you need a decent size..

As for buying a shark: I'm not a fan of them because they don't have bags, but you can't deny the feedback of performance. It's certainly better than using your wife's vacuum. Now go clean your own carpet at your house today because you just brought in some NASTY on your own floor from that vacuum
It is a bold assumption that I, or anyone else in my family, vacuums at home ....

Do you want to look like the homeowner? Using a common houshold vacuum doesn't distinguish you as a professional. If there's any way that you can see your way clear to purchase a "Commercial" vac, they'll normally perform better for you, last longer, and give you a more professional appearance to boot. The modestly priced Lindhaus Activa 30 Pro is becoming popular with professional carpet cleaners. It's CRI approved too.

I try to be as neutral possible. If my vac brings negative attention once I know it can be an issue again.
Looking professional helps keep the negative attention away so you can put it to bed and focus on other things.
It's everything from your appearance to language you use.
I like to be as neutral as possible. Just doesnt always happen.

Looks pretty good but impossible to use in a staircase

I've never had a homeowner judge me from my vacuum. If anything they are excited when they see that I am using the same vacuum as they purchased.

I've had customers feel insulted I felt their carpet needed to vacuum first.

I pretty much only vacuum when it visibly needs it or I get a vibe from them. Some won't vacuum for a week knowing I'm coming.
I personally feel scrubbing is a much better step than vacuum.

It all varies.

Bring any vac in that doesn’t look like a raggity pos or stink like the last dog house, they’ll be impressed
