It offends me when people pussy foot around a subject instead of just saying what they are thinking... I can take it, as all people should.

Working around deaf people and down syndrome and others I discovered they like being treated the way we treat each other.
I have a joke about you also.... But i'm holding off.

Derrick, I almost came back at you with a joke once, but I held back because I didn't want to offend you. It would have been in response to a comment you made on one of my FB posts. I thought it was pretty funny. But others may have not.
Lay it out. I promise, i cant be offended unless malice is intended...

I did ride in the little yellow school bus from 4yrs old all the way till i was 17 yrs old because i had to get to get to a school far out my home zone to get the education and help for my deafness.. Usually i was the only deaf guy on a bus full of down syndromes. Very sweet individuals. Ya are right about working to communicating and treatimg them no differently than you would with any other person.

You must have got a good education. I dated a deaf girl in highschool. I went in the army and she went to college in new York. We wrote for awhile and damn it was hard to decipher. The internet and computers probably help a lot.

Back when I used to work at an Auto Body Shop one of my good friends was deaf. We would chat in the evenings through operatorator assist. He had some sort of device he hooked up to the phone. I would talk and the operator would type away, showing the conversation on his screen. That was 25 years ago. Damn I feel old.

We would talk some serious crap about our co-workers. I always wondered what the operators thought of our conversations. Probably learned a lot about bondo.
