Prochem Exhaust Heat exchanger repair?

Hi Guys:

We had a crack that we were able to repair. But the interior design does'nt make sence, as to why the spacers are not welded in place (the reason they moved and caused the crack).

Does anyone have any experience with these things?

If they were welded they would not give and take for expansion?

Hi Lee;

Your probbaly right, but this time it caused the spacer to move and allow the coils to rub. So, I'm welding it in place.
