I am going to get a QR code for my van this year. Was wondering if anyone has one on there van now? How big did you make it. I printed some off of paper to see how big I need and it look like I need it about 1.5" square to make it large enough to be scanned in a car that is behind me.

Seems kind if large to me but I thought I would see what your thoughts are.

Thanks

I use them in my print advertising....................
I have seen them on billboards, vans and such.......... I have tried to scan them and it does not work because of moving vehicles and such........... I think its a waste of time and space to put them on vehicles.............. print advertising is ok

I have seen nothing but that digital square on pick up trucks

2 foot square

Maybe curious minds will scan to see where it leads

No, that is why I was thinking it would need to be large enough to scan from a car. I was thinking smaller on the sides for when someone is waking by in a parking lot/job.

QR Codes are used as a quick way to get a person to a specific website. You scan them with your smart phone and it takes you where ever the person who generated the QR code wants you to go. This can basically be anywhere on the internet. A lot of people use them to drive you to their website, but most marketing people use them to get you to a specific page on their site. Whether a sales page, a specific service, piece of information, special offer, etc.

I don't think most people would really have any intention, let alone the time, to get their phone out, open the bar code app and be able to scan your QR code while moving or parked at a light. Your actual website would probably be better, with a list of your services.

Here is a good QR code generator: http://qrcode.kaywa.com/
It is super easy to use and if you would like to add QR codes to your marketing materials, this is a good option.

Remember, that the person with the smart phone has to have an app that can scan the QR code. A couple that I am familiar with are:
QR Reader http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/qr-reader-for-iphone/id368494609?mt=8
QR Droid https://market.android.com/details?id=la.droid.qr&hl=en
Red Laser http://redlaser.com/

We put the QRs on our spotters as well. IF it takes them to your website, a good trick is to make sure you have coupons they can print off your site. Mention this to the customer. Not only do you get website hits and referrals, you sell more spotters.

are you imagining people getting out of their cars at intersections to scan your box?

No...but the azz of my truck is always pointed towards the aisle in a parking lot....easy to scan when pulling by to enter or leaving a store....the cost was $15....I ask 'why not?'
