Hasn't anyone tried Vacaways "Rust Assasin"? Been using it for years, and has never failed me, even on those hidden file cabinets rusty bases.

Contains:
Proprietary mixture containing:
<5% AMMONIUM BIFLUORIDE CAS# 1341-49-7

That's the exact same active ingredient in Bridgepoints T-Rust (which I use). Works great.

Who's area is Bridgpoint?
Scott W?

Oh Scotty, Paging Mr Scotty : )

Samples?

And since I'd have to order it now. Is there a Haz-Mat fee.

If there is a Haz-Mat tag how much will fit in the box under that 1 tag. 6 gallons should! Since max weight is 66lbs

Never mind thats 666 EEK!

According to Interlink's website a gallon is $59.82 and qualifies for free shipping. Sales tax was added (I did a mock order) but no mention of a Hazmat fee, at least for the one jug.

They have it in quart bottles as well with a flip-up spout.

I don't know. I miss the Erusticator that zapped rust instantly. I use Whink which is watered-down Erusticator. It too should be neutralized with ammonia, and after reading Willy relate his permanent physical problems from using these hydrofluoric acid products, well it probably won't change anything I do, I do feel bad for him nonetheless.

Just don't touch it. In fact we shouldn't be touching any of the chems we use. Did you know, touching used motor oil is one of the worst cancer causing substances there is?? The skin absorbs chems fast. You can't wash off motor oil fast enough.

Way back in the old days you'd occasionally get a scare when the carpet would turn purple. Fortunately you could neutralize it and correct it.
Indicator dye can be such a surprise!

I had a rust spot do that about a year ago on a new commercial carpet. I remember thinking "oh this is one of those things that iicrc instructors talk about that never happens", I neutralized it with a high ph and it was good as new

I spoke to a hack once and asked him how he takes out coolaid stains. He told me he applies some "erusticator" then steam with an iron. He said, "you then just let the natural process take over." You could tell in talking with him that the crap had been eating his brain.

Dirk;

If you know it is Rust . . . ,

why don't you use the Rust Remover first ??

Fels is a solid bar @ $1.99 for 5 oz. that takes more time to rinse completely.

Our Rust Remover is $6.95 for 16 oz. & rinses quickly.

Roughly the same cost in a pint & even cheaper in quantity ($12.95/gallon).

I think it is a good balance between effectiveness and safety.

Larry

I read the 1st few and the last few.

Now I'm hooked.

I do find it funny Cobb is comparing a solid to a liquid.
