So today I did my own home with a few different methods: 1. RX20 like I have done most things so far (yes, all 30sqft @Mikey P), 2. 15” Zipper straight manifold, 3. Pad Cap with my new TOPS Phoenix OP with a tan fiber pad followed up with a gladiator absorbent pad.
I was a bit shocked at how bad the recovery was with the RX20 after I went back over the same areas with the zipper for dry strokes. The clear tube was insanely insightful, I didn’t realize I was leaving that much water behind.
The Pad Cap was done on a couple area rugs with a total area of about 200sqft. I am sure I went a bit heavy on the encap solution because I used about .75 gallons on those 290sqft. Spray on the push, off for the return. It was still dry in an hour and despite putting an air mover in one of the rooms, it is still not completely dry 5 hours later.
The pad capped rugs look terrific, though they didn’t start out filthy. I soaked the 1 gladiator pad and 1 fiber pad in the sink afterwards in about 4” of water and could not see the bottom of the sink.
The rub with the encap is this, I vacuumed very well before and then again after and did not get a bunch of dryer soil encapsulated by polymers. I got some, sure, but not a bunch.
Is this something that will take a bit of time? As in, the vacuum beater bar was not enough to break them loose so they will need to be walked on? The rugs were noticeably softer underfoot after vacuuming again.
