If you want to go with a pto, the butler is nice but probably the largest footprint. The hydramaster would be the smallest footprint unless you want to add the fresh water tank and hose reel combo. The cleanco is slightly larger but still as reliable as it's ever been. The hydramaster X-drive is only for the ford transit vans, or so i've been told. It works as good as the regular cds and they have over 2 years of testing on it. Powerwise, their is no difference from the ordinary cds. There doesn't seem to be much difference between any of the pto units. It all comes down to personal preference and the layout of your truck and servicing of course. My personal preference is the hydramaster cds for the space saving.

Justin,
The butler model is not popular with some (like me for instance) because:
  1. I do not want to fix it myself (mechanical skills challenged) and though local dealers will service it, you are not likely to receive the same support and it will take longer to fix.
  2. Wasted storage space, due to old design.
As per look, I could not care less. They all look fairly fugly and I ain't entertaining any clients by the machine. Most clients could care less about the look of the machine and I do even less than the clients.

Reliability? Now that's another issue and supposedly that where some excel. Even though the Butler is supposed to be the king of dependability, I've never seen actual numbers that support the claim. And even if it was true, I'd personally still not buy one due to the poor use of space that will really limit my options in the city.

Some of these companies may change their designs too frequently, Butler, on the other hand, would greatly benefit from some sorely needed changes.
My point was almost totally about resale Ofer. I understand the benefit of having local support. I'm not sure why Butler doesn't strike a deal with an Interlink or Jondon to do warranty work.
I agree that Butler makes changes at a glacial pace. But I remember talking with Ken @ Hagopian about the Butler model. They sold there units after 5 + years of heavy use for at least 45% of the purchase price. It was Butlers LACK of change that makes this possible. If a 2006 butler looked nothing like a 2016 butler the resale would be nowhere close to what it is.
I love my 870. But from what I understand it will look totally outdated in a year or so. Your pro 1200 looks nothing like the new pro1200. I know I know. None of this affects my daily cleaning and my customers don't really care. It really is a first world carpet cleaning problem. But I'm gonna whine about it anyway.

Any news from Sapphire? Haven't heard anything about the new look of the 370 and the old model is still listed on their website.
