I was a poor kid in the East Bay Area. I was a big 49ers fan. I remember Joe Montana used to be the spokesperson for L.A. Gear. I remember how happy I was when my mom bought me a pair. I thought I was in the In-Crowd. I remember those shoes were heavy as hell.

Wasn't Montana the guy that rep'd skechers as well when they claimed you could lose weight with those weird thick sole shoes - just by walking?



And then they had to walk back (no pun intended) the claims and maybe even buy back shoes or pay fines when it came out that it was all bs...
