A customer hires you to remove the abrasive soil from their carpets to prevent future damage. The best way is to vacuum first. Without vacuuming I dont believe that all the abrasive soil the customers wants removed, will be removed. So you are not doing what is required to do the job right. Without the vacuuming you can get the carpets so it appears clean but really how clean is it. Vacuuming is just apart of cleaning. Charge enough to make it worth your time and the customers and **dont be lazy**. Once you stop doing things you know you should be doing then it opens up a whole can of worms. Whats next? Its not all about the profit you make, its about the service you provide.

That is debatable. It depends on whether you are in business to make money or to clean carpets, and whether you can remain as profitable as you want to be by taking all the steps that we think we need to take. Where do you draw that line? Personally, I am going in the direction of providing the utmost in service to the best customers I can find - that is our marketing strategy. There are companies making tons more money doing the bare minimum possible in the area of service and raking in profits from customers that I wouldn't think I would even want. Do I wish I could do as well? Definitely.

You are right it is debatable. Its really a matter of preference. Some people are in it for the money, some are in it for the service/quality and some are in it for both. I think its easier to run a business doing both. First off I am not dogging on Doug. I am sure he is good at what he does. That comment I made was my opinion.

You have to have a profit or you are not going to be successful at running a business. But if that is all your concerned with than that is a issue in my opinion.

I know a local cleaner that is all he is concerned with is making a profit, he does substandard work and I hear about it from other cleaners and customers. Also online websites like angies list, check book, ect. So it just seems that he is burning his bridges and his future may be in doubt.

Then you have a companies like Ernies G. Top of the line quality and equipment and the job is done right everytime. He still has high profits and is doing very well for himself. You can trust him to do a great job. Great guy too.

Then I know a local guy who doesnt speak very good english and is a hard worker. he does the job right everytime but charges $69 for 2 rooma and a hall. He is afraid to charge what he is worth, a better cleaner than businessman. He rents an apartment and its just a job to him with little profits.

My statement was only to point out if profits is all your concerned about then there maybe some other part of your business is suffering. again i am not talking about Doug.

I wont doug sometimes I talk just talk to hear myself talk. :D

And lets not forget to schedule a vacuuming every week until the next time you clean because Mrs Jones is a retard and she will never know how to use her bissel.
