My Cleanco, after 15-20 minutes running, is PINNED @ the TM to 240 ( the highest the gauge goes). it’s blazing hot, not measured ATW. I opted for the ‘post thermal increase’ when I ordered it. All I know is, I can’t touch ANY metal parts on my wand at all…. My helper uses a rag to move hoses (goodyear Neptune), and I have issues on almost every job I do. It tattoos almost any carpet it touches. We have learned to keep it moving constantly, and where we can’t move it, we use towels to protect surfaces.
I overspin my rig by about 600 RPMS… and have been doing that for over 7 years.
Yeah, I know ‘you’re going to crater the machine’…. Well, it’s been over 5800 hours , and nothing yet…

Shut up Marty. I run it like I like it, my machine, MY CHOICE.

Have you considered increasing the flow on your wands to help maintain the temp if it's making dangerous heat like that?

There's times when 225-240 is needed. I don't clean museum carpet very often like the 370 guy does.

When section 8 and some neglected apartment carpet needs cleaned, (from your comment above) 200ATM isn't enough
That was a typo. My unit runs from just a tad bit under 220 (like around 215 or 218) up to 225. I’d say 220 is the average.

But Mike’s correct. Extreme heat is overrated. Remember, we both ran Vortex’s. We’ve got experience with 230 -240 all day long.

Quality chemistry combined with heat produces better results.
I’ve had a TM that would only top out @ 190 ATM, combined with subpar chemistry…
Chemistry
HEAT
Agitation
Time
I would take my current setup W/ vastly superior chemistry (including experience, and knowledge), over the frustration I used to experience when i started…

There’s no excuse for having bad chemistry today. Great products are everywhere.
When I started, the guy I purchased the company from was using the most ‘cost effective’ chemical he could.
Not knowing any better, I followed his suggestions, and was just as crappy at cleaning that he was.
He ran a 30K a year business, and I knew that there had to be a better way.
So, I started to do research, and not only gained knowledge, but grew the company exponentially in the process….
Better ways to gain new customers, better chemistry, better TM, more ways to make money in the industry.
By joining the boards, I was able to create something much better than I thought possible.
And, to a large degree, it’s you guys that I have to thank for that….
So, THANK YOU!

I've run super high heat units as well as average to moderate heats units. High heat can be addicting but it comes with many dangers like, hoses bursting, fittings scarring wood work, leaving permanent welts in carpet, chances of scalding or otherwise burning yourself. My Apex will go up to 240 but I usually run it around 220. My hoses last longer and there's nothing I can't clean with that. My Hydramaster tops out at 210 and still cleans great. One of my old units was so hot, when I pulled the trigger it made a loud popping noise, almost like a gunshot. Used to make the old ladies jump. Took most of the skin off my right hand one day. Not fun.

I agree 240 all day isn’t needed. But on those jobs where it’s needed, it’s nice to have the option to turn it up that high.

It’s never needed
I respectfully disagree. I did a job today that had 4 dogs living in it.
Without high heat, I wouldn’t have been able to peel the dog oil funk off the poly carpeting.
As it is, there were areas that I did twice. Yes, I used good chemistry, yes I used agitation, yes I used high heat.

Tell me again how a good, high heat TM is not necessary???

Maybe, just maybe, I should have let the realtor Down, and just used an OP…

Or maybe, I should’ve done the job properly, and removed as much as I could….

I run into those on occasion. I pull out my Rotovac and the amazement begins in the eyes of my customer.

To spend an hr. per room on extraction?
Nope. They will not pay for the time in my experience.
Sure, it works great as a tool for extracting shag rugs in the shop, but hell NO, I do not carry it on the van.
Time IS MONEY in our business, and I don’t need to try to amaze a move out customer….

We clean to the best of our abilities and knowledge.
