Solved a problem with our TM

Every once in awhile on the hotest days the TM would shut down, after putting it in a box truck it seemed to have stopped the problem, I figured more breathing room fixed it. Then it happened in the box truck back in June, it was 126* in the box. We decided that the fuel pump may get over heated and stop flowing correctly, so we installed a second fuel pump under the truck and it has run like a champ ever since.
Maybe this will help someone :D 8)

And that with a #4 blower, 25hp machine, imagine what the BIG machines are dealing with all crammed in a van?

Sometimes common sense, and some airflow is all that is needed.

My fuel pump has been inside my box van ever since i had it. And it was mounted inside my other van since i bought my machine in 92. The one in my trailer i just had to replace it a month ago and it has been replaced before and the machine in there only has 1745 hrs on it. The older one has 4621 hrs on it.

The fuel pump should be mounted under the vehicle and as close to the side wall as possible. If it's too close to the exhaust the fuel can overheat and cause vapor lock and shut down the TM. Wrapping the fuel line in an adhesive insulation wrap or larger size hose will also help to keep the fuel cooler. Air flow is also huge in cooling. Mounting under the van will help increase this.

we had the same problem years ago, Al
fuel vapor lock, sure enough.

I took a different tac than you though.
I installed another fuel pump and by passed the original one all together.
The OEM pump and fuel line are mounted to "inside" the TM and get too hot on sweltering days.

I installed the new pump on the inside front of the frame.
Same as on the old 1150 we retired.
never had a problem since
