Confession time, I give up on yellow, furniture stains, and slime. Just too time consuming. I made my 9 year old cry last week. As a Cub Scout project they had all the kids make blue slime with impregnated glitter. I was so pissed. I took it from him and threw it in the garbage can. He cried and cried. I felt bad but stayed strong. Slime will never be brought into my house!

I’m sure everyone here gets every red stain out
But for the mere mortals out there....

How do you pre-qualify the you’re about to charge extra for correction?

“Ms. Ma’am I have to charge you $X to attempt correction
I might be able to make it disappear, might be able to improve it, might not be able to make it budge without color lose”

But it still costs you $$extra

I usually point it out to the home owner as a potential problem. I let them know that I have products that may remove them that are included in the cleaning price and that if they remain after cleaning, it may be possible to remove them at an additional cost. I explain how we do it and the potential risks and get them to sign off on it if they want it done. It's been my experience in a lot of situations, that they find they can live with the stain, put a rug or a piece of furniture over it.

A few father's of girlfriend's said similar things to me.....

You better make it up to the poor kid Damon.

I can see it now: As an adult, he is making his campaign speech during his presidential run, and he reminds the adoring crowd that he was raised by a Republican, and would be one himself except for the day his father threw away his blue slime....it was then he had to leave behind the values of his father and strike out on his own.

Stop him, before he also becomes a vegan too!

Don’t blame you at all Damon....
My 6 year old was at girl guides... they thought it would be a good idea to have them make slime(yes, with glitter in it aswell).
Within 20 min, she got it on the couch, area rug, and in her hair.... in the garbage it went....

If its a nice place the offending red stain is what prompted the call normally not the rest of the carpet

If its a trashed rental most know they wont get their bond back if it isnt returned in same state they entered

If you take your car to a mechanic to see whats wrong with it, and he tells you its not worth fixing after spending time to find out the problem. You'll still get charged even though its not fixed

Yes!
Get out of your mental constipation Soopa. Relax, please. It is OK (actually recommended) to charge and be paid for extra work. Is everybody in WhoooooopChuck like you? :winky:

Do you guarantee complete stain (any stain) removal on all carpet/upholstery/rugs?
Do you guarantee removal of wear in high traffic areas?
After all, isn't that what they called you and were secretly hoping for?

They stained it, not you.
If it requires extra time and effort (heat transfer, multiple red stains) it costs more. They are paying for your extra time, expertise and experience. No guarantee. And they sign a release that if it takes some of the carpet color out they do not hold us liable. Hardly ever happens, but it can in a heart beat on some low heat set contractors specials.

If just a little squirt will do it and it is not red stains all over, no charge.
However, unlike the rest of the miracle workers, I don't find that just squirting a little Peroxide on it does it. Maybe the red vendetta is personal.
(And anyhow, on the red synthetic food dyes you're supposed to use a reducer.)

don't get testy with me
I'll feed your brains to Jimmy too....

'cept in the first starving year or so, I always ran 2 men in res .
Me and a wingman
and by year 5-6 was charging enough to make money

With two men, It wasn't a big deal or real production lose to get the iron, wet towels and juice out

if I worked alone??
Might think different

I'll restrain myself. Cause I take all and any Jimmy threats very seriously. Though Jimmy already refused to meet me at my S.F. bus station of choice :winky:

But really Larry, it's ok to charge extra (it ain't a dirty word) for extra work.

Yo! Capiche?
