I have a few customers with Smart Strand Silk one to three years old. Seems like poly. Traffic areas are worn and deformed. Mohawk warranty excludes "damage to or appearance changes on carpets installed on stairs, in bathrooms, kitchens, or high-traffic areas or areas subject to other-than-ordinary shoe traffic, or outdoors." Is anybody aware of a successful warranty claim?

I've never had a problem cleaning this junk until a few days ago. Carpet feels rougher than a never-cleaned section under a piece of and customer showed me grey powder she collected with her Dyson. Checked that my Flex Ice was properly diluted and metered and I called the previous job and two jobs after the scam strand and was told carpet is wonderful; no residue. Prespray was Pro-Zyme, same as the other jobs. Any thoughts regarding what could have caused residue?

Much obliged.

She may have shaken baking soda or some other deodorizing powder on it. Drop vinegar on it to see if it foams.

I don't see your Flex precipitating out of solution, unless it is doing so in the tank as well. Piur some on a dish and see what dries.

Tell those customers to file a claim under the "texture retention" warranty. If it's filed under a "wear warranty" they might deny it.
We're finding that cleaning those with high ph works best. Then an acid rinse. I doubt the Flex had anything to do with it. :)

Local outfit wanded it out last. They didn't get all the spots, so owner got em out with her Bissel and Bissel juice. I presprayed ProZyme, scrubbed, and rinsed with Ice. Went back today to find owners' Dyson gummed up with a grey crust. Four oz/gal Flex with Citrus Solve on a rag dissolved it off the vac, so that's what I used as a prespray and HOSSed with Pro-Max. Left some blowers and went to next job. Haven't heard from customers yet, but I think I got whatever it was. WHAT WAS IT?

Most times they say I don't do anything to my carpets and I don't spot clean with anything except water. But if you look under the sink there is two bottles of resolve that they forgot about. They all watch the TV ads so why not try it? After all why would they sell it if it didn't work. jz.

I would actually guess the white gum stuff being carpet fresh type powder...

Did you see any white powder in the vac after prevac?

That stuff just keeps exploding when getting wet...and it is really difficult to get out of carpets....especially if they have been using it a lot

The Smart Strand part....yep...there is some junky stuff out there...I have some in my home that is doing just fine(bought as a test)...but I have come across the junk too

Customers called me yesterday: carpet's good. Went by to pick up blowers and it still feels a little stiff to me. I'm going to give it a quick acid rinse tomorrow with Fab Set or Flex Ice.

They're sure no powder has ever been used on the carpet. I wonder whether there was too much soap, (her dried Bissell juice plus my Pro-Zyme) in the carpet for the Ice to rinse out.
