Tar on my hoses

The parking lot splooged a bit of tar on my solution line. I'll watch out for the patched areas when I am laying out my lines from now on. Any solvents you guys have found work really well at getting this stuff off?

I use pog on a rag. If i need something a little stronger i use rubbing alcohol. But pog generally works well. Use a wet towel afterwards to remove the pog

Acetone from your paint store or Lowe’s or Home Depot.
No it won’t soften your hose like somebody’s going to say.

Forgot to mention (because i use it in place of pog) is citrus based spotter. I use pro chem citrus pro and citrus gel(gum remover) to remove tar stains on my hoses because it worksand is on my truck. But when i do it at my shop i use odorless mineral spirits. Only because it works and is handy i have a part's washer with 30 gallons of the stuff handy

just get some goo gone and a razor blade. spray, scrub, and shave it if it doesn't come off

Sorry Matt! I was listening, but also imagining stuff at the same time. I thought since I only have my Salsa/blower exhaust heat exchanger working right now my temps wouldn't be hot enough to worry about it yet. Not so!

Yep, 7 weeks since I ordered my dang heat exchanger. Dude said it was done almost 2 weeks ago... I want my new heat exchanger!

ALWAYS clean the hoses…
Once in a while, use Aerospace 303 to recondition and protect the clean hoses…

Such is life. I'll have figured something out before my time is up!

I'm just going to take it one day at a time and remember to be nice to Mrs. Jones and not to use Flex on her favorite cotton chair. For the week ahead I'll try not to smear tar on my customers floor and keep dreaming of what it will be like to clean spots and traffic lanes with big boy heat.

I am going to go read about the lillies of the field again :]

If you don't get that tar off your hose, it will melt and get on that carpet. Getting it off the carpet is much harder than removing it off your hose.

I am joking. I am a goofball but I know if tar melts on it will also melt off!

Without a big boy heat exchanger I bet tar is impossible to get out of carpet. Actually probably with one too. For the time being I am going to blame all of my cleaning insufficiencies on a lack of heat.

The day it happened I wrapped some painters tape around the tar splooge to prevent any further catastrophes.
