My son just got an SS 870 that carries on and improved on the 405 IMHO.

Very impressive.

My Vortex treated me good until I was able to by the new Everst 650 hp. I'm really liking the Zipper for commercial work also

2 machines I would love to own, I'm leaning back towards the 870 again.

Have to add in tax, delivery, and upgraded blower and hx, but even at $899/month it would be sweet.

This post actually makes me feel really thankful, because I cannot choose which is the best piece of equipment I've ever owned. They really are all my favorite for different reasons!

At this moment though.....my new Rotovac and my Zipper, and my Devastator filter. And the unbelievable dependability of my White Magic.
I do miss our Steam Action though. Oh the runs we could do with that baby......sigh. Like I said...feeling really thankful right now!

I couldn't find a portable to do what I wanted with out blowing all the circuit breakers, so I built my own. 24 gallon solution and recovery tanks, 500 psi pumptec pump that lets me use a 5 flow wand if I want, 2 hp 3 stage vacs in parallel running through a custom manifold lets me hook up 150ft. of 2 inch hose and still have more vacuum performance than a standard portie. Takes 2 days off a 64 floor complex that I do and does a better job.

What did you use for tanks? The classic problem in building porties....

Internal pics are a trade secret. Heater is external (edic heat and run) weighs about 150 lb's. Elevator's only, doesn't go up and stairs easily.

Plenty of power, ran RX-20's , Drag wands, cleaned upholstery in banks with doors locked in downtown Atlanta. With a heater cart it took the place of TM in cold weather. Cimex was a close 2nd!!!

We had the EDIC version of that... I haven't used it and actually tossed it after I was done trying to make it better.. I guess it was good for its time..

I'D say My Vortex--- everything so easy to work on.. except for that pulley I haven't removed yet-- other drama pop-up.

Looks like a great porty. You obviously got a much better grade in fabricating classes than me. I really like the simple design. I can bet it would be more than a handful on stairs.
