how often is frequesntly? Ive had my Original Black Turbo for 7 years and have never replaced the swivel and I have had my turbo Hybrid that I bought used and was allready 3-4 years old and have replaced the swivel once.Problems we've had with the hard surface spinners/turbos is the hub that spins (for lack of a part name) goes out frequently
and they're expensive to replace. We have 8 or 9 of these floor tools. We've re-built them but that's a pain. It appears the Zipper uses a spinning part too. Would we have the same difficulties?
Who is going to do the cleaning pass testing between the CX-15 and this rotary cleaner ? ?
I would suggest some photos after a single pass,
and instrumentation for checking the moisture left after a single cleaning pass.
We used an Extech non-invasive moisture meter across the width in our wand testing . . .
...a real world cleaners perspective.Larry I'm more concerned with time to clean an area than how clean after one pass. Both are important but I track time to get it clean. The zipper is going to clean both ways, no wasted time walking back to the beginning. That factor needs to be taken into consideration when testing. I would clean a square and then check for time, dryness and of course how clean.

Gene;
I've done many cycles of wand testing with 12", 14", Rotary Extractors, CX-15 and "prototype" / production Zippers.
The only wand that cleaned as well in both directions was the rotary extractors.
The amount of water sprayed down should be measured, as Jim Martin did in Vegas.
It is hard to control all the variables for repeatable testing.
It is very difficult to even try to do a meaningful test for say a 100 sq.ft area repeatedly.
The carpet that J2 sprayed with soil evenly in Las Vegas was the exception for uniform soiling of test carpet.
One pass IS the industry standard for comparing wand performance.
We did time our passes when we recently tested the Mytee TRex Jr. vs. the Zipper.

P.S. The IICRC productivity study did do some good testing on cleaning rates and effectiveness for different cleaning techniques.
Scott Warrington is heading that committee now .
Rotary Extractors and Zippers are both over $2000 investments . . .
I think that deserves some side-by-side testing.
