This is not the time to be out of service for a brake job

But what can you do? The fronts brakes started grumbling a little bit a couple of days ago. I thought I could make it to next week when everything slows down but they went metal to metal yesterday. I had to take it in late yesterday and hope to have it back by noon today.

Bummer...

My guy does the fronts every year. One hour and $68 including pads. You will likely need rotors now, a good bit more.

Yeah, rotor and pads on my NPR are just under a grand. Done twice in eight years. First time in two years because knucklehead employees were pulling a mini excavator with the trailer brakes unplugged. Six years on the second set.

Just the pads alone are about tree fiddy.

E350 but I also have an Isuzu that's in Washington getting a new tranny before I import it. Will be checking over front end and brakes too before it comes up here because everything is way cheaper down there. I rented one last weekend for my shop move. Looking forward to getting it here.

The brake job cost $450 with the better heavy duty rotors and pads and I had it back on time. That's actually a very good deal for around here. I would rather someone else do this kind of work anyway. My mechanic doesn't play carpet cleaner either and neither does my dentist...

Brakes are easy as **** to do....disc or drum.............HD or LD

just make sure you call your insurance agent and up your policy to the max....in case you kill someone............

cause the buck stops with you...................

<-----------does all his own brakes and other mech....but just sayin

for the love of Buddha.......if a potential mistake in what you are doing can lead to death of you or others....it might be worth the extra change to use a pro...........

.....take a look at the "are you mechanically inclined'" thread.........encouraging folks to work on probably the most important safety feature on a vehicle , because the parts are cheap at autozone and you think its easy, may not be the best idea

Bob, I feel your pain. My box truck was in the shop all day today getting new brakes. Mine started to rub last week and I tried too, but last night the pedal went to the floor......piston popped out.

my heater core went on my truck this week. Nothing like driving around smelling antifreeze.
