re grouting is a pain but can be good money but it is work.

alot of times in older shower a drywall razor blade works better than the diamond hand tool.

alot showers around here dont have large grout lines

Not necessarily. If the grout was originally dark, it could level it out. I have done it with acid bleached burned grout, using the aqua mix enhancer. You do have to literally brush it into the grout.
Do you have a link of the specific chemical you brushed in?

well, It my be to late to post this, However I was in same situation a cpl years back, Same tile, Same grout..... I used everything known to man to clean it,,, no go.... However before I gave up... Being that I'm an HVAC/R guy as well. I decided to grab my Coil cleaner.. I applied it to wet tiles let it sit for a few, and that Crap melted off the grout like nothing very minimal scrubbing ....

give it a shot,,, GLOVES, GLASSES a MUST...

Nomad, i was gonna reply to yours aswell, looks like you were having same type of issues.
Have a friend who does Pressure washing ,carpet, tile and grout, he tried helping me out to get it clean, then i grabbed my coil cleaner, he was pretty shocked... who, knows if it'll work for you but i know i was impressed immediately..
Best of luck.

Im sure its a strong cleaner but sometimes even something like 2790 will not take old discolored grout and make it look new again, and 2790 is some seriously strong toxic concrete cleaner... destroys stainless on contact.

Its an old thread but in a property manager situation I would have offered to coat the entire shower polar white, similar product to what was posted above miracle method etc

or regrout the shower pan only and color seal the walls with modern stone color seal
