If they phoned and left a msg, I'll try over a couple days, once in the morning, once in the late afternoon, the next day, after that I leave it in their hands.
If they email me, I'll reply once.

1 time with a friendly message that I'll try just this once so as not to bug them, then move on to next crisis.

As much as I need the business, I will only try once. Everyone today has voice mail and caller ID, so they got your message.

After having missed a call and calling back within an hour they usually have someone else.

I will try 3 or 4 times over a couple of days after that I figure I lost em or they were a price shopper. I have been suprised a few times when several weeks or a month later they will call back but not the norm.

If you answered your flippen phone you wouldn't have to try and call them back!!!

Now back in the real world, If it hasto go to voice mail,make sure your message explains that you will return their call and if they don't hear from you please call back.

I try and answer the phone on the 1st or 2nd ring. Once in a while I miss one. I try returning the call 3 times stating on the 3rd try that I wont bug them after this. The ones that throw me off are the out of state area codes which I assume are sales calls.

Mike, yea I know during busy months(every month not named Jan & Feb) I'm not getting everything(booked jobs) I can. Plus, who the heck want's to call a bunch of people back after cleaning all day. During spring/summer things can become quite overwhelming. Something like full circle would be a huge help.


John, if client is in the home I generally don't answer phone. It seems rude, to me. Voice message conveys we return calls asap, most times within an hour or so.

You have to get over that. The custy won't mind if you talk to someone else on the phone while you are working. It's not like you're on a date and talking to a girlfriend on your cell. (Don't do that). Nothing is more efficient than talking to a customer who is calling and is hot 4 you to do the work. Take the call, book the job. It's all over in a couple minutes.

Most times just by anwsering you talk to the client, tell them you will call them back, it stops a lot from shopping. I don't know how many time I got new clients by just personaly anwsering and hearing "WOW!! your the first who personaly answered" Yes They leave their number on your voice mail but their calling the next cleaner on the list. Also it proves to me another point, We are listed in collum only no paid adds. many clients start at A and just go down the list..

I just carry my schedule into the potty. I've booked many a job with my pants down around my ankles.

No way am I going to loose a $200 job over a good crap.
