NPT is stated relative to the inside diameter, not the outside of the threads.

Look for a metric equivalent at a good hardware place, or if you don't have one, maybe Lowes.

So Metric is stated relative to the inside thread diameter?

It's to the point that it's probably just best to bring it over to Homer D. or my local guy and try to figure it out.

I'll take the wand off, put on my NWA hoodie and stick it in my waistband.

Looks very close to 3/8 BSPP (British Standard Parallel Pipe). Your pic looks like parallel (non-tapered) threads, same as BSPP. 3/8 BSPP has a major diameter of 0.656 and 19 threads per inch. BSPP seals at the end, not by thread interference. Looks like your fitting seals at the end.

You measured 5/8" (0.625) - could it have been 1/32" fatter? the BSPP thread is 21/32" (0.656).

If you like to tinker then buy a thread pitch gauge - really helps to identify mystery threads.

Note that 3/8 NPT is approximately the same diameter but is tapered and has a pitch of 18 instead of 19. A 3/8 NPT fitting would probably start like it was going to fit, but would balk after a thread or two due to the different pitch, and would bugger up the plastic threads...

Walk into any ace hardware, they can tell you. They have that little thread testing board you can use.

Just the instructions.

A exploded parts diagram with specs would be nice.
You got instructions with yours??
Mine had just one page, with almost no information.

and when opening it up things were wet. Like it had been used/tested before packing.
the sheet of paper called instructions was all wet as well.
