As you know two months ago I had the V's transmission rebuilt.

Got a good deal but when we got to our first job we quickly found out that someone did not reconnect a hose to the PTO so we had tranny fluid shooting all over.
Rebuild company payed to tow it back and fix.

Every thing ran fine until last week when it started to not want to go into reverse for a second or so before engaging. Two day of that, hit or miss and all of a sudden when in Drive it wont shift pass 1800 RPMS, so basically it wont go pass 2nd gear.

Still goes into reverse, and can be shifted into 1st, 2nd and Drive.

So back to the rebuild company it goes where they cant find any thing externally wrong like a blown shift solenoid so they opened up the tranny again yesterday and..

Nothing visibly wrong other than burnt fluid. :!: :?:

What do you think?

I think it could be the pump or something in the pump screen. They have to drop the pan anyway.

That's a bitch Mike.... I think Harp is probably right.

I think a good transmission shop should know everything there is to know about them. They should be able to tell you what is going on and fix it. If they don't know, I think they are not that great of a shop.

speed sensor...or other electrical/sensor issue?

I agree with Fred, that would be the perfect place to start. I had the same issue in a car I owned... the tranny had two speed sensors, ending up having to replace both... fixed the problem. Might also want to have them check the electronics going to the speed sensors. ECM I think it was called in my car, not sure if that translate to what you got.

The oil sending unit on her car puked oil all over TRANS-PACK..."tranny sensors"... :x

She was told she need a complete rebuild on tranny $3700.00"....
I took it to one of my mechanics...Replaced the "trans-Pack" $320.00...RUNS PERFECT.!!

ps..Didn't you say FLUID went everywhere....? Could have DAMAGED sensors...

pps Next thing to check...would be the TORQUE CONVERTER...?????

When you had it rebuilt, did you get a new tc of a reman one. Burnt fluid means something is slipping or overheating issues. You should be able to read the codes your truck is throwing. Did you run it hard at 1800rpm to get it home. Get on forums of your truck manufacture and read up on trany problems similar to yours.

So are you using the judson as a backup? Or are u needing to run two trucks? Nothing as dependable as a judson or tcs. Propane is very reliable. But the trans can go out of any vehicle. I got the same trans rebuilt in a van 3 times in two weeks, I know how frustrating it can be. Good luck

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop?

Cut and gut or run and gun.

So....do you still get that warm and fuzzy feeling when you have to park it on a hill and start it up and release the emg break..knowing that the only thing that is holding it from taking off on you is the tranny......

how many miles on the truck and how many hours on the machine have you racked up...

Mike in all seriousness it would be much cheaper and efficient for you to just spend the money to make the V right even if that means new engine and transmission.

Sounds like you have made a killing with it and could keep making good money for years to come if you keep it up.

I wouldn't spend 60k on a new truck just because I wanted something new.

I've come to that conclusion Dan.

New rear doors, weld up some leaks in the fresh, a new wrap and good for at least another two years

If I were the anal O/O I once was I'd want a Drapermount but form my guys, this is just dandy.
