Truck mount vs. 175 and a portable

Do you think using a 175 to pre scrub then using a 100 or 200psi portable to rinse vs. not using a 175 to pre scrub but a TM to clean with, what would do the better job? Assume pre-vac in both cases.

Dont ask Ricky Recoil...

I would give a 500 psi porty with 3 stage vacs a chance but you cant beat a the extraction, heat and flow (PSI) from a TM, thats why you rarely... need to prescrub with a TM and good prespray and I have pics to prove it..

Well depends on the carpet and soiling level. Some carpets will not hold up to a scrubbing so you need the suction and heat of a truckmount to effectively clean it. And I think it also depends on what truckmount it is. Example a grease pit restuarant, may need to scrub and rinse with alot of trucks but if it can hold temps above 240, you may be able to melt the grease off with out a scrub if chemicals are equal. The question comes down do how many passes does it take to completely rinse the chemicals out with a 100 psi porty compared to a 500 plus psi truckmount with higher flow and better vacuum? And are your chemicals doing a decent job? 75 percent of the jobs we do don't require any agitation with proper chemistry and dwell time. However its nice to have the 175 for those commercial jobs and occasional trashed residential.

Agitation is good with either, some think that just because they have a truckmount that they dont have to,but the truth is it helps with any method, even bonnet cleaning, the advantage of the truck is ease and quicker drying (normaly)

if a dude roto scrubs and porty extracts, he'll be doing a better job than 98% of the squirt and suck TM dudes.
and better than 91.7% of the pre-spray and rinse TM dudes

91.7..LOL ...18.3%..Ill take that challenge 750 psi... 8) but I agree the roto/porty combo will do it and then some.

agree with meat

how about a pre-vac....and then a VON SCHRADER pre-scrub that takes the top layer of dirt OUT....and then a 500 psi high flow extractor and solid heat with awesome chems and many dry strokes...

the foam left down is a great pre-spray

that has got to be the world's best cleaning...haha

i love heat but i think i would take agitation instead of heat most days of the week...unless it is a grease pit..

I am a roto scrub and porty extract guy, and regularly get compliments that I did better than the last 3-4 prespray and suck TM guys.

P.S. I am working on getting a truckmount to become a prespray and suck TM guy for most jobs.

DITTO, except CRB or Cimex for pre-scrub before Porty or Demon extraction.

You tell them Eric; I just got back from an airport commercial job; greasy azz cgd; no scrubb and secret sauce with industrial grade high performance tm/porty on 100 foot of hose and electric heat(2 Mytee Heaters), holed green glide and those guys loved it!! They still say you do way better work than NAtional chain(SM) that use to do it!!

:D

P.S. I heard that Rickie Remark; Behave fellas!!

How hard do you want to work and how much time do you want to waste?
The perfect answer to this question. You can do the same job with a porty that you can do with the TM. It is just MUCH slower and MUCH more work

Ditto what Scott, Mike and Larry said.

For three years I built my business with a portable, a CCS op machine and an old mini-van. The third year I was doing over 100K and couldn't have worked any harder if I tried. I got all the same comments about doing so much better than the last guy - but I was working my ever-loving ass off. Now four years later with a TM we gross fifty-some percent more and my work load has become so much easier than it ever was. The hardest lesson for me to learn has been that I still need to pre-scrub on occasion or post-OP the carpet even with the Tm.

If you have any volume in your business a TM will pay for itself so many times over! Don't be a knucklehead like me and wait longer than necessary.

My first 6 months I had no money for marketing and paid my bills taking restaurants from TM guys with my rotary, red pad and a 100 psi Ninja. Keep in mind that 70% of the truckmounts out there aren't maintained and aren't working right in one way or another. Mostly supid stuff like clogged filters or jets, vac reliefs set at 8",pumps that dropp to 100 psi when triggered, etc.
On the other hand so many are afraid to make the jump to a TM and then say they wish they made the jump sooner.

I think a lot more would get into TM cleaning if it was affordable (no 5 yr. loan), and if you are ona budget a small 18hp unit with #3 blower will get it done IF you have propane HEAT, it's silly to have to use your portable wand with it's portbale jets and low flow because all you have for heat is an 18hp engine and it's limited BTUs of energy output...Get a #3 little giant with that economy rig, enjoy twice the BTUs, 100% more reliability and continue to march with a real TM rated wand... and in 2-3 years you will buy what ever you choose....and move on up.
