Hi Guys,

I saw this the other day on TV and thought it quite interesting. First time I'd heard of this process or technology. On the surface it seems revolutionary and quite a game changer for companies that only do floors. Any guys out there that do a lot of hard surface cleaning/refinishing ever heard of it or considering stepping up to this process/service?

Looks like it can be applied to wood, VCT, laminate, concrete.

This video is from the show introducing the service to homeowners.

This is from the floor company's website about the service.

Pretty interesting stuff...

Bill;

We have some tile test area that was RUINED by the process.

It was MultiClean's UV cured floor finish that was used on our floor.

I'm glad it wasn't a customer's floor !!

much like an other "to good to be true" type thing...

RUN...

I went out and setup a few demos of this stuff...and

sure it looks kinda nice god forbid you ran your wheel in the mix before the UV light hit it      what a cluster that would be...

Went back to a place we did (Sams club entry) so lots of traffic...

it looked pretty good for 3 mths...decent in 6...and like shit in 12....

Right then i decided to watch what type of TOPICAL treatments you do.......

Concrete polishing is as good of results, AND can be fixed or "redone" unlike that UV stuff

and with decent poly on wood floors, it will hold up for years...

It was all the rage about 10 years ago at ISSA.

Kinda like Steamex Ultrasonic carpet cleaning at the ISSA show in Chicago 1979.

We have a local janitorial supply house that was really on the band wagon about 10 years ago. They had a huge walk behind machine that UV cured vinyl flooring after waxing.

The process is gone from their showroom, so I don't think it worked out too well.

UV cured coatings have been around a long time. If you are ever at The World of Concrete Show in Vegas you can usually see a dozen or so vendors.

The UV equipment as come a long way over the years; cheaper, smaller & lighter. The coatings, while better, have not quite evolved as much. They can tweek properties for different applications, and last I checked they were in the range of $200/gallon.

To date I have not seen a UV curedcoating that can meet or beat the best of traditional coatings. So if you really want/need the instant cure you will end up paying more and getting less performance.

But is is pretty cool to see the demos in person.
