Just wondering what you guys charge for water extraction. I don't do much of it but when I do I'm never sure what to charge. If it doesn't have pad I just normally charge my regular cleaning price but today I had 380 sf of cut pile over pad that needed extracted using a water claw. What would you have charged for this? thanks

Why not your hourly rate?

If you don't have WD credentials/insurance/training and mountains of expensive equipment, it's probably not ethical to charge Exactimate rates.

I'm assuming you don't based on you asking the question.

The fast and easy is an hourly rate for your machine and the labor to do the extraction. $150.00-$160.00 an hour.

I can look up Xactimate for your area, where are you at Justin?

For quick and dirty I'd say $1.25 a foot. If hey have that much water they have other problems that aren't being addressed. Be sure you aren't advertising for water damage, remediation or mitigation. Simply a suck and go will most likely end up costing them problems later. Make sure you are free from the liability of those problems in the form of something signed.

any emergency extraction I do, starts at $250.
if late evening, night or weekends, it's three-fiddy to get my soggy azz out the door :winky:

after that it's $150 an hour if the machine is running .
and/or $46 pr man hour if pulling pad 'n stuff

i couldn't care less what Exactimate, ins or anyone else charges .

had a resto co call me some years ago wanting to know if I'd extract a small room at "such 'n such" address .
Told me it was appx 150sf and he just needed it extracted til his crew could get there in the morning ...told him my minimum charge was $250.
then he told me he usually only has to pay $150.

then i told him again, my min was two-fiddy
Guess that was too much for him.....

I dont advertise for it and don't really get that many. This job was for somebody I knew so I didn't charge my normal rate but it got me thinking what I should really be charging in these types of situations.

whatever you think is right for YOU, Justin
Nothing wrong with charging "normal" pricing if you want the work.
I personally HATE "surprises" when i think I'm done for the day
