Wd-40 and your blower

How many of you lube your blower with WD-40? And if so how often?

I do it at the end of every day. It's supposed to drive the moisture out of the blower.

If I'm wrong, the I've been doing it wrong for almost 21 years.

wd will swell o-rings. dont lube your q-connects with it. i use marvs mystery oil or penzoil z-4.

been using WD-40 since day one......I let the machine idle down while I roll everything up and get rid of any moister that may be in there and only use the wd-40 after the last job....

If you haven't sucked water through don't you think there is enough heat to dry out any humidity in the blower. I got a 25 year old Roots 45, never lubed the inside and it has never gotten frozen. I've looked inside and its clean.

Since the first truckmount we had in 1984 we have never used
anything ever! I don't know why? Never had a blower seize up or get wrecked.

Our mechanic doesn't like WD-40, he sells Aero Kroil. He said it's much better for your blower.

I use WD 40 at the end of each day after I winterize my Butler in cold weather. I use WD 40 in warm weather after I flush out my blower or if I think moisture got in to the blower.

I used to run it, tried tu use MR Wrench stuff when I could get my hands on it but make sure it's non-flamable the blue can (I once got the yellow can and you don't want that). But I saw some gunky junk at the the exhaust pipe in mine. And decided to not use it anymore. My CDS has a blower exchanger and that makes the blower run very hot. If the heat from the blower can't dry it out in addition to the air flowing through it then WD or any other oil aint gonna make a difference. I've been going w/o blower lubing for a good long while with no problems what so ever.

I tell people to avoid WD40 and use Liquid Wrench or PB Blaster.

Most cleaners insist upon having their blower lobe protection oil hand in their vehicle. This presents a real problem, as most products used for this purpose are areosol AND flammable. Storage within the confines of a vehicle where summer temperatures can quickly raise the can pressure above safe limits.

Liquid Wrench in the TEAL CAN, is an exception. It's a safe non-flammable formula. For this reason , and for compatibility, blower manufacturers have been mentioning this product by name.

It leaves a shellac- like residue. I don't see it being enough to build up and stop a blower from turning. But why use it when better products are around?

I wasn't aware of what Shawn mentioned above, but it makes sense. I haven't specified the blue can.

I've wondered about Marvel Mystery Oil as well, but have no experience with it. Sounds like Les has, though.

I've never lubed my blowers and have never had a problem. I don't make a point of running water through my blower, so its stays clean and dry.

By the way,

The Liquid Wrench non-flammable in the teal can is available at just about every Walmart I've seen for tad over $2 a can. You can't beat that with a stick.

I was trying to think of a good store in your area but.......The Montgomery stores were always trashed as well. It took me 3 months of 90+ hr weeks to clean up that Greenville store. It went to crap within a month or two after I left. AHHH the memories.
