[h=2] I'm considering adopting this one..

Vacation Policy[/h]
It is the policy of Sani-Bright Commercial Cleaning Company to grant vacations with pay to provide qualifying employees with periods for rest and recreation in recognition of services performed.
v 5 days paid vacation after one year of service
v 7 days paid vacation after three years of service
v 10 days paid vacation after five years of service
v 12 days paid vacation after seven years of service
Vacation pay will be paid based on the average number of hours worked. For example: an employee works 1040 hours in 2005. 1040 divided into 52 weeks in the year averages out to 20 hours of vacation for each week due, or 4 hours per day. Vacation pay due will be rounded to the nearest quarter of an hour. Vacation is accrued throughout the year.
An employee becomes eligible for vacation pay upon the first anniversary of the first day of employment with the company. Vacation accrued shall be taken within the year it is due between anniversary dates. For example: if an employee’s anniversary date is Oct. 1, 2005, they become eligible for one week of vacation starting Oct. 1, 2006.
If, due to unforeseen circumstances an employee is unable to take his or her vacation, any unused days may be rolled over to the next year. This may only be done with approval of the owner.
Employees are responsible for planning ahead for vacation and working out a complete schedule with their supervisor. Normally, two weeks advance notice of vacation is expected and necessary to ensure scheduling of work. Employees should realize that the sooner their requests are given, the more likely they are to receive the days off. If another employee has already requested the same days off, the first request will be approved, the second request will not be approved.
Vacation pay will be forfeited upon notification of termination. Vacation pay will also be forfeited upon involuntary termination.

I wouldn't be surprised if our gubberment doesn't require that in the future Willy. It doesn't say specifically in your text whether or not this must be paid or not.

302 Vacation Benefits

Vacation time off with pay is available to eligible employees to provide opportunities for rest, relaxation,
and personal pursuits. Employees in the following employment classification(s) are eligible to earn and
use vacation time as described in this policy:

The amount of paid vacation time employees receive each year increases with the length of their
employment as shown in the following schedule:

1-Week after the 1st-year anniversary date
2-Weeks after the 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] year anniversary date

The length of eligible service is calculated on the basis of a "benefit year." This is the 12-month period
that begins when the employee starts to earn vacation time. An employee's benefit year may be extended
for any significant leave of absence except military leave of absence. Military leave has no effect on this
calculation. (See individual leave of absence policies for more information.)

Once employees enter an eligible employment classification, they begin to earn paid vacation time
according to the schedule.

Paid vacation time can be used in minimum increments of one-half day. Written notification shall be
given to the Management of tentatively schedule vacation. Vacations will be allowed on a first come first serve basis. Requests for more than one week at anytime must have written approval by management. Requests will be reviewed based on a number of factors, including business needs and staffing requirements.

Vacation time off is paid at the employee's base pay rate at the time of vacation. It does not include
overtime or any special forms of compensation such as incentives, commissions, bonuses.

As stated above, employees are encouraged to use available paid vacation time for rest, relaxation, and
personal pursuits. Employees asked to report to work while on paid vacation will be paid for their vacation and for the time worked.

Any lapse in employment starts benefit period over.

Upon termination of employment, employees will be paid for unused vacation time that has been earned
through the last day of work.

No day off for birthday (My guys really need they day after off! :eekk:) but $50.00 dinner certificate for Supervisors or Lead and $25.00 dinner certificate for assistant

So, on say Thanksgiving, for those who pay hourly, do you pay 8 hours, or average year's daily?

What happens with Holiday or vocation pay, does it go as regular payroll therefore you need to pay workers comp, or does it go as an allowance (or whatever) and no workers comp paid?
