Have another carpet cleaner in the area who I gave $550 worth of buissnes to today(he booked and did it today)

Will ask him to use his power flight (better then nothing...) which he has for sale.

I know no matter what I will kill it. Just hope the introduction does not last longer then a half hour...

Dude…go get a!175 and a few cotton pads with good inexpensive encap and go do the job. You might discover very quickly how easier, faster and in some cases padding is the best method for both the carpet and your time.

As for showing them video of equipment, two thoughts:
They most likely can care less and are too busy. Get to the main points of the meeting, schedule the job and do it. Be confident.
Second it makes you appear like a new rookie just on the scene (no pun imtended).

Remember, they hire you to solve their problem and relieve them of that problem. Now you're presenting them with your problem in addition their existing problem.
Its up to you to take their problem and confidently solve it for them not add to it.

(I'm getting a headach with all these problems)

So I have a decent new account with a production company. These are good gigs since they film at a lot of locations and usually have the carpets cleaned after they are done regardless of condition. They want me to do the job (which will have decent production value on my end) this upcoming Monday.

However my new tools are not expected to arrive until late next week. I am meeting with the production managers assistant and the property owner this Thursday. He wants the carpets cleaned sometime Mon. Wen. of next week. The fact that the owner is coming is an opportunity for a re-occuring account.

Should I try and delay until the following week or should I be straight forward with hime and say your carpets will be cleaner if I do it next week not this week because I have ordered equipment that will allow me to do a better job? (maybe show him a crb and zipper video on the iPad?)

Thoughts?

Most customers, especially a busy production company, does not have time for your problems.

Irregardless of how genuine you are in your intentions, it is most often perceived as BS they would rather not have to deal with.

Along with establishing the idea that with this "new" equipment, you will deliver SUPERIOR results, you also establish that what you have been charging them for up to this point, using your "old" equipment, is INFERIOR.

Not a positive provider/customer moment.

Keep your mouf shut.

Better to get a little familiar with new equipment before you bust it out in front of an audience and wind up looking like a Goober.

No problem.

I know all too well when the name "Goober" is being directed at me.

Just get the pork chop off and you'll thrill 80% of them 100% of the time
Don't make assumptions. Even though they comment on the pork chop and nothing else they still look it ALL over after you leave. For days or weeks they are looking at ALL of it.

Be consistent in your work. The pork chop is usually the easy part. Don't rest on your laurels.

If you find out what's important to your customer, address it and then anything else is considered going above and beyond in the customers eyes....

I forgot, value added is baloney, only for over charging...:eekk:

Doing what should be done is not value added it's doing the job you are paid to do.

No you're not ready. Have some other cleaner that can get in there and get it done. That needs the money to feed his family. So what if he only had a buffer and a shopvac. And has to work 24 hours to get it done.
