Oxy clean is basically borax with peroxide. Borax is a washing soda and can boost your prespray or rinse. Oxy clean will do the same and also help with coffee and similar stains.

How much you use per gallon?
Yes. I am aware of that as well. I just thought chemicals formulated for carpet cleaning generally rinses better regardless of the similarities of it's ingredients.
