maybe we can get it set in time to promote @ Vegas..

Keep in mind IF we do it, February or March is when...

Vegas is good. So is San Diego in the Winter. I like Feb. More likely that things would be slower than, so more could attend.

I would have picked Detroit if it weren't for the time of year.

You should do it in CA somewhere. There are some carpet cleaning supply buildings near your area....Sacramento maybe??

Central CA Cleaning Supply was always good to me.....Except when they sold me that POS White Magic years ago.

Good weather, close to home....But no casinos.

Ok, Vegas it is.

I'd vote Vegas too

I'm always looking for a warm climate in the middle of Northeast winters

Yeah, and the Islands will bring about 1/10 of the people who made it to Nashville....if yer lucky.

Is there anything to see in Arizona besides Imbesi?

Nate's place. Who cares if 1/10th the people show up. If they are to BD to save up a few pennies for a week in Hawaii during the winter it will give them motivation to save up for the next one. Mikeyfest was and should be about hanging out with other cleaners it is turning more into a mini trade show(connections) which is exactly what it wasn't when it started right?

Serious though even if I don't get to right off another trip to Hawaii thats ok but Mikeyfest is starting to look more like a Moneyfest then Mikeyfest. I would be up for having it in Arizona. Skydive Arizona is only 1 hour from Phoenix and we could arrange a group discount on skydiving and they have a wind tunnel

Somebody moved Johns cheese. Iseeru

It can still be about hangning out....but I'm not going to slap dicks during the day without something to do.....and a trade show of some sort to see new stuff is always nice.

So what if people are trying to make money and show off their products etc. I loved that part about Mikey'sFest.

I know you can do all this at other events....But Mikey'sFest is really the only one I strive to make it to.

So nyaahhh!

John,

I think Mikey would care if only 1/10th of the people were able to attend considering the amount of planning and cost to run the event.

Vendors that support the event might care as well... considering they would considerably higher costs to attend
only to have a few dozen people attend

There's also the amount of time it takes to travel from the East coast to Hawaii.

"mikeyfest is starting to look more like moneyfest"
whats wrong with trying to accommadate as many MBs as possible? Its good for the attendees, class presenters and vendors?

A place where most people would go already is key....I think.

The hot spots around the country like Vegas.....Why do you think Connections has it there?

Hawaii.

Those cleaners that really want to go will go. (Write off)

Those manufacturers/distributors that really care will go.

And lastly but most importantly Nate could score a lot of products noone will take home and he won't be paying shipping on any of it, so I think he will support the idea. btw I think 25bucks shipping charge on a gallon of juice is disgusting...

I think especially cold weather guys could benefit from heading down to hawaii or SoCal. (Up to date I still haven't felt as cold here as it was during the mytee/mikeyfest! That was some cold weatehr we got on those days)

I voted for Mikes garage It's Cali I hate Vagas haven't been for years I would go the Pier Henry Cal state park for the awesome

redwoods, and maybe run down to Monterey and see the world class aquarium. My wife says Vegas has a cool aquarium!

And Vegas maybe closer to me then Santa Cruz. I could stay with my Sister for free. So maybe I would be down with that.

Moneyfest?

Did the cleaners pay anything John?

or did Tim Baker get scolded and bitch to you about it?

regardless the next MF will be anything but like the last two years. My days of being a Larry Cooper wannabeeee are over.

I'm looking for a venue that can focus on the one company and what they do along with some quality hang time for true MB'rs.

Prescott at the SS facility.....

Prescott is a dump!! I lived in that crap hole for a year. However, I think the whole state of AZ. sucks, but that's just me. Rocks, rocks, rocks. Everybody's yard is rocks and all the houses look the same. That place sucks so bad Satan has a summer home there.

There is nothing in Prescott to do other than the SS facility.

I vote Vegas. 3-4 hours from the SS facility. We could make a day of it there.......then leave!!!

Not happening here- I can barely handle 3-4 hours, let alone hosting 2-3 days. A non-starter. Plus we are getting close to 900 rugs a week in and have barely enough room to move, let alone have people coming in telling us how we are doing it all wrong.

Judsons/greenville.

Warm. Not hard to get to. Good restaurants. Atlanta is close if you want more.

Best of all, close to me!

You missed it all together. By Moneyfest I meant it was turning into how to get money out of the cleaners pockets not about you making money. I won't begrudge you for making a dime off this headache ever.

I enjoy the mix, there is enough time to talk and get to know each other and exchange stories as well as REALLY check out some of the newer items in the industry, ie how much is hype, how much is real.
Connections gets to be a huge sellathon. MF is more informal so that, just like on the board, if there are questions, they can be asked.

Hawaii would be great, but the event should be accessible to even the new guy that joins the month before that may be struggling and looking to meet up with some cleaners that he could get to know and learn from.
We've visited Mytee, would be really interesting to visit Judson.

Connections is a sellathon if you attend all the infomercials. If you go to the exhibits (they are free) you will see the largest gathering of vendors in our industry. I think what Mike is trying to do makes sense, a small grass roots for cleaners that want to hang out at- just not in detroit please.

I agree Ron with having to be able to afford it even if you are a newbie.
But if the newbie is struggling, he won't drop 5-600bucks to fly out anywhere and stay in a hotel anyways.
There is not a good way to solve that. A newbie coming out from montreal or new york to san diego is not gona be cheaper then going from vancouver to georgia florida area.

And there isn't that big of a price difference to fly to hawaii, so might as well. I guess to me its 5 hours to fly back east and 5 hours to fly to hawaii so I'm ok with either but prefer not to go back east..

Ignore me since I've not attended one yet...

Vegas is out just because there are so many events there it becomes tedious.

Phoenix is probably number 1. Good weather that time of year, lots to do, easy to get to whether you fly, drive or ride, pretty ASU scenery and the landscape is nice too. !gotcha!

Anywhere Sacramento > south for the same reasons.

Dallas because it's hideous at all times, but Cobb would pick up the tab and you could visit Dalworth to tell them how they're doing everything wrong. ( Ken)

Given your dates Judson's hometown could still be in deep winter, so if you want to go there you should plan for the first week in May.

PS: There's just way better things to do in Hawaii than talk shop. I was there last month and didn't need to think about carpet cleaning once.

PPS: New Orleans in Feb for Mardi Gras could be fun.
