All of the boats that I have worked on, have required that footwear be left on the dock or rear deck.
It may go against workplace health & safety acts, but hey, it's their boat & if I want to make good money, then I will do as they request.
After all, I've never had a workplace injury since I started in 1971, well before these acts came into being.
Back then, it was a case of being responsible for your own actions & we did not sue for our own stupidity.
Mind you, all of these boats have overseas registration so I do not know if they have special dispensation.
All of the local boats require you to wear footwear, not necessarily safety footwear, these are usually tourist vessels where everyone wears some type of footwear (except maybe the crew).
