The Steam Way 4100 works day in and day out and am looking forward to seeing that machine back on the market. (It is what I would run if it was just me cleaning carpets day in and day out and I would be running Jet A because there is nothing like the smell of Jet Fuel in the morning!)

Is Steam Way thinking about building these or some other company?
Speak to Mr.V about his Steamway experience. I fully understand why they went under. It was the WORST pos you could imagine, constantly broken down, and he got squat for support from corporate headquarters or the local dealer after the ink dried on the cheque. I also realize this was post Bloss, but it was out and out BS the way Andy got treated.

I've had 3 different machines and while I like the looks of the Judson I've never ran one so I really can't say much about them,,,,anyways

From the 3 machines I've owned,,,,,my Prochem Legend XL never gave me a moments grief and performed more than good enough for a single wand machine

didn't hurt that it sold for $3000 less than the cost of new after a year and a half of me working the hell out of it.

Steamway???

Loren call and Talk to Tim. AMF is building a "4100" type machine. Steam Way is NOT building machines. Would be nice if someone picks up the 2100 but don't know if that will happen.

Willy I have no Idea who Andy is or who sold him a machine or what machine it was. I am willing to bet it was nto a 4100 or a 2100. I am going out on a limb and say it was a 9100? If so yes that machine hurt Steam Way Big time but the biggest hurt was when the rats jumped ship. I wonder what the boys will say to their father when they see him again.

Over here the Freedom, Boxxer 421 and Prochem Legend have been the biggest sellers for single wand operators. Since the PowerClean Liberty was released 18 months ago, most people have been purchasing these instead.

Liberty.jpg

26 hp Water Cooled Kohler
2000 psi General Emperor pump that can run dry
36 blower with kunkle valve
2.5 " plumbing
small footprint
massive APO

Over here now, we roughly would sell 9 PowerClean Liberty's to 1 of every other model.

From what I've been told they retail for. $15,990 and I'm sure you can bargain to get a bit better price.

PowerClean Freedom with 47 blower retails for $19795 . And they both include an APO and if you figure that's a 1500 buck uption for most they are quite a bargain for what you're getting.

Yes John,,,I am Andy

and that Powermatic I bought was the worst POS I ever owned

but it sure cleaned good when it ran properly

but that was VERY rare

the longer I owned it the more I realized what a stupid design it was,,,,,wish I never let the salesman talk me out of the 4100

but I'll never own a Steamway again

No Offense Taken Willy. I am by no means a YES MAN as anyone that actually knows me will tell you. Sorry if it sounded that way. I am sorry Andy got a POS. I don't know his distributor but I can tell you (and so can Powerclean and Prochem) that if I had sold it no way would a lemon stay in his truck. It WOULD have been replaced. Now I can't speak to the issues as I have no idea the history but I have never had any problems with any of lines I carry as far as warranty problems. I have yanked 2 machines (see above) and had them replaced with new machines. Every once in awhile a Machine will roll out with Gremlins. It just happens.

Now flip side alot of folks fly off the handle and place blame way to fast where it isn't deserved.

I apologies if it seemed like I was picking on you I wasn't I just didn't want people to think PMF had poor quality control because YOU had a problem. That would be as far from the truth as anyting that has come out Democrats mouth in the last 24 months.

Again not saying YOU didn't have a problem and sorry if it came out that way.

I love my Freedom and would recommend one in a heartbeat, it really is a workhorse, and pretty easy to wrench/maintain.
Jim, how does that 36 w/ kunkle compare to my 45 on my Freedom? Also, is it the same APO that is on my Freedom, because that's the only complaint I have about my machine.

I re - read the post and blew it up. It didn't need to be so mean spirited. Andy is a good friend and I felt bad for him. He was tooling around with me the day it got installed (the install included a free dent in his new van that wasn't taken care of ) . The distributorship had changed hands a few times, the first was some brothers that tried and had a ton of grief, next came the guy who Andy got his machine from and someone else took it over after that. There was no support from either the Vancouver branch or head office. I can't tell you how many times it was broken down and the distributor here dodged or sent used parts up. I know of a few others that had a lot of problems with Steamway and the name isn't a good one here. The present Prochem distributor really has a grasp on the business and the family works their ass off to take care of the customers. This city can't seem to support more than 2 and the one biggie is jan-san, which is a crying shame with a population base of 2.5 million.

On the bright side, I helped turn him into a POG. :D

If you have the money ($26,000) check out the FOX 8500D by Organic Compounds. 2000 + hours with no trouble and a breeze for maintenance. Being in California you will be close for parts.
This machine pulls 2 wands at 300 ft. each all day long. It has a very unique heat exchanger that doesn't have any expensive valves or controls.
it all depends on your type of cleaning and your personal needs.
Do your homework.

What kinda Heat you get outta that fox when running two wands?

I take it the 8500 has a 56 blower, does it have 2 - 2" hoses from blower to waste tank, or 3 hoses?

The best/cheapest truckmount for a first time carpet cleaner in this economy may be SOMEONE ELSE'S. Sure the owner will be making some money off of your hard work but he is the one with all the risks. As an employee you might only work have to 8 hours a day. And when you go home you are done-- no headaches from all the stuff that comes with running a business. This is the cheapest because it requires no investment. Best because you don't have to maintain it or stock it.

Happy Thanksgiving,

I would have to vote for the Aero Tech in every category but the cheapest, unless you mean over lifetime... then the AT would still be in the race. If you added actual production dollars my AT is way cheaper than my 4.8CDS.
So clarify the post...cheapest purchase price, w/tank or tankless? or cheapest over 10-20 years?

Overall if dual wand or very fast dry times were not an issue, electric would eventually beat all for cost effectiveness. (heat would be another issue, unless you use propane which sort of defeats the fuel issue).

Perhaps an electric 2 circuit system with a 220 volt heat source? After all the dryer would only be unplugged while you were there.
