Do you know what the overhead on a cleaning business is?

This is not a carpet cleaning business.

All you need is some windex, 409, and a vacuum cleaner.

No marketing costs, no equipment, employees usually use their own vehicle.

The problem is most of those homes are likely being cleaned for 50-80 dollars.

If the owner did the work, only one employee would be needed.

I would look at it if it was in my area.

I'll come down for a couple of months and get you 50 new clients for $48,000.

Heck you can even pay me $28,000 down and $20,000 over a year or so.

What say you?

Even more so if you are looking for clients paying only $50.00 to $80.00.

Dan, are you lite headed from to many dead lifts?

We're talking maid service for my home Ron, try to keep up.

I unfortunately bought my condo in July 2004 when all the detroit pundits were sayikng that the 20% drop in values we already had was the end of the drop. Thought I got a great deal. These units were going for as high as high 300's (a decent amount of money in Detroit). I got mine for 310k put about 30k in new carpet, flooring, painting etc, plus 62k down and now units like mine are selling for 175-185, while I still owe 237. Only good thing is I live in one the highest property tax zip codes and they have dropped almost 50%.

Ken,
We left detroit 10 years ago and did very well on a house in Ferndale. Just got lucky to picked no. of 9 mile and west of woodward. I do miss the Woodward cruise and many other things about Michigan.

That was right at the edge of the precipice around late 200 into 2001 and then sept 11 accelerated the decline along with the dotcom burst. If you had stayed another 3+ years in Ferndale it would have been a different story- good timing my friend.

I have a few friends who bough little squat box houses in Ferndale in the late 2000's and I couldn't believe they paid almost 300k for 1000 sq ft (that is being generous). Those houses were waaaay overpriced and now are in the 80-120 range or less esp the one's further south toward 8 mile. Lots of good things are happening in Ferndale but the nhhousing is like all of metro detroit.
