Got a new Dell with Windows 7
Windows 7 is ok....
But the new mail Program in 7 literally sucked big time IMHO...I personally just did not like the look or feel of the mail program.....
My IT guy was able to do a few tricks and use the "old mail" program lay out in Windows 7 so I don't have to use the new mail program.

Sometimes change is hard, even a simple computer change. But this move looked like it was going to be a BIG challenge so I decided to get some help this time. This is the first time I have ever had any help importing stuff to a new computer...but with QB's, Camelot and a ton of other programs and pictures I thought it might be a wise move on my part......in past moves I had done it all my self....glad I got the help.

I just saw an article about Windows 8 that is in development and it looks pretty slick......

Anyone else like or diske he "new" mail program in Win 7 ??

Unfortunately Rick, the sad answer is YES.

Champing at the bit waiting for Apple and Quicken to get their act together down under.

Purely by preference, I prefer to use Mozilla Thunderbird as my email program.

A couple of years back, my pc guru told me to wait until Windows 7 came out, don't touch Vista.

So I was a good boy.

Bought the laptop with W-7

Got the latest Quicken.

B - E - A - U - T- -I - F - U - L.

So I did some invoices up and sent them off with Thunderbird.

Three weeks later, I started making phone calls to see where my money was......................

NOT ONE CLIENT HAD RECEIVED THEIR CORRECT INVOICE.

So I quickly had the GURU come back and check it all out.

Ohh, W-7 won't accept Thunderbird.... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH !!!!!

No wuckers, we ripped out W-7 and replaced it with XP.

Ooohhh, I had shivers everytime I used it.

She was beautiful.

For about a month until the laptop dropped a chip. :x :x :x :x :x

So it was sent off under warranty.

Came back all fixed up, WITH BLOODY W-7 INSTALLED AGAIN. :x

I was told there was now a patch available for Thunderbird, guess what. ??

What I feel I can't print even here.

That machine is now in the Philippines.

I bought an old 2nd hand IBM with XP on it, and it's been brilliant ever since.

BUT I STILL WANT AN APPLE.

With Quicken.

XP?!?!?! seriously, XP was touted as the better system than vista at the time. frankly XP sucked. I had tons more issues with XP than I ever had with vista, in fact if not for a virus I likely would still be happily using vista. windows 7 does have some nice features but for me its not that much better than vista. my machine doesn't run noticeably better with 7 than my older vista machine did.

I understand the idea of Windows mail and other free programs like Thunderbird, they're light on features so they boot fast and don't take up too much computing real estate. I use Windows mail on a computer that doesn't get business use and it seems to work fine. We use Thunderbird with our Linux system and find it to be about on par with every other free mail program: limited features, behind the times on the features it does have, glitchy in certain situations.

I use Outlook for business because I don't want to put up with the limitations of freeware.
