Installed it yesterday on 1 of 3 machines.

So far, I don't see what the excitement is.. Ya still have a desktop.

Big deal the "homepage" has tiles.

OK, I just installed it yesterday...

A Windows version that uses no windows, but tiles instead??
Too drastic of a change for most Windows users to adapt to.

They should keep it strictly a tablet OS for now.

You in classic desktop mode??

From what I have seen and heard about it, it's a touchscreen that will unlock the full potential of using the tile format.

one of the tiles is desktop..

you can still pan the tiles via mouse.. yeah, no longer a start button..

So far I think it is more hype.. Win 7 has been the best so far, not saying it is not better than win 7.. just not dramatically different.

Long time win user.. Win 7.. no complaints, really like it. very stable.. Not complaining about 8 either.. Just not as different as the marketing would want you to think.... What was it Vista that sucked ass!

Whether fully practical NOW or not, I think it clearly shows that Microsoft understands that in the very near future, most of us will probably not be typing away on keyboards too much, as everything will transition to touch input.
They are laying the framework and beginning the transition with Windows 8.
Better get used to the tiles.

Again,, no complaint.. Yes, I think windows 8 was designed for the next big thing.. touch screens... works fine with mouse. But my point is,, it is windows 8 is not all that crazily removed from windows 7...
Nearly bought a new desktop yesterday, touch screen.. But prices will drop shapely.

When I find some time, I gotta create a partition and install it so I can play with it without committing to it as my primary OS.
Looking forward to checking it out.
