I used the Zipper and it was about 40% faster.
The HOSS did picked the pile up better and my
helper did not break a sweat after 2 hrs. But
the Zipper did a better job extracting water, the
carpet felt dry to the touch. I could extract more
water with the Zipper after two dry passes with
the HOSS.

That was a nice feedback Luis.
And the Zipper does not need an electrical cord and is lighter. Nice to know.

Did you also try both in smaller, residential spaces?
If so, how did they work?

The Zipper does not work on small areas with furniture, I have used it on empties but a wand
is also needed. But the same applies for the HOSS. Out of the two the HOSS would be my
preference in small areas.

hard to believe the Zipper extracted better

how many passes were you making with it and the HOSS?

Zipper: full stroke with water and full dry stroke
HOSS: full stroke with water and full dry stroke

2 hoses off the C-4 2600 RPM's
Zipper 100ft 21/2" 50ft 2"
HOSS 100ft 2"
prespray Zipper side with hydorforce, HOSS side w/ penguin

Zipper in my opinion. You need to get use to the motion it is not a wand but you need a helper regardless of tool.

huh?

what is a full dry stroke consist of on a machine that goes in circles.

We go over the are until the site tube shows almost nothing coming up and get incredible dry times.

On a job like you had I imagine you just made one pass at the same speed you did your two cleaning passes at.

Sight tube? the only sight tube I have is in the Zipper, the HOSS does not have one.
To be fair, my helper with only 4 yrs carpet cleaning experience was using the HOSS (he is a VCT guy with 10 yrs exp.) so maybe he did not know what he was doing. If you think
I am way off I will send off my Zipper to MF in the mail so you can do a one on one comparison. But you pay for UPS to bring it back and are responsible if I do not get it back.
Luis
P.S. Drying times do not matter if you are using airpaths

the thing you dont appear to understand is drying with an airpath still leaves plenty of emulsified soil behind

drying with multiple passes picks up mud.

Might as well have used a Cimex if only one dry(clean) pass was made.

he was going to fast.

no way in hell can a Zipper out extract a Rotary tool

So, if he slowed down the Hoss (Already 40% slower) it would have left the carpet just as dry as the Zipper?

I have cleaned over 150k sqft with the zipper on one account, and it runs circles around my rx-20's.

With 18 flow and two (Rounded) hole glides NOTHING besides a cimex will make you money faster (On wide open comm. work)

What color was the Hoss/Zipper?
What was your helpers sign?
What type of shoes was he wearing?
Did he go l-r or r-l?
What did he have for lunch or dinner?(slowed him down)
When was he last eye check up?
Problems at home?
