I know it's the number of votes that counts, but I by my calculator the percentages add up to about 275% - how does that work? Just curious.....

So think of it this way ....although the rest of the votes varied more (same participants additional votes)..................close to 50% cast a vote for chavez

OK, that makes sense - I was thinking that 50% meant that person got half the votes, but it really means that 50% of people voting selected that person for one of their votes.
