I just tested a new machine of 14 pounds, that cleans & deodorizes difficult stains without using any chemicals. It takes oxygen from the air, and injects it into solution forming both a cleaner & deodorizer. Now we have new machines capable of producing both oxidizing and reducing solutions to clean many surfaces. Here is a video of a demo I did showing the oxidizing effectiveness on a blue food dye (FDC #1):

Cleans carpet but pulls oxygen out of the air so you need to wear your scuba gear.

We have equipment that takes 7% hydrogen peroxide and passes it through a 15k v cold plasma arc and converts it to Ionized Activated Hydrogen Peroxide. Much more effective and far safter than high concentrations of hydrogen peroxide.

That is a good technique,

but Ozone solution has a greater oxidizing potential than hydrogen peroxide.

Our machine is $625 for 10 grams per hour . . .

how much was the plasma arc equipment ?

Quick demo on how ozone can remove the color!

It's basically oxygen bleach.

Ocean produce ozone and its very harsh on fabrics and dyes. Ask any one it's like sun fading.

Ozone machines and swamp coolers with chlorinated water can cause textile discoloration.

But ya it has a sanitizing effect and deoderizes.

Is it used for small stain removal?

$80,000.00 but its not for carpet cleaning.

I have tried and tried and the only time I have seen ozone discolor something was a new mattresse set. It was dry and in a controlled environment and it still lightened all except where the mattress touched the box springs. So we separated them and ran it another day. It was all even.

It injects the Ozone into the cleaning solution for 220 PSI extraction machines.

Primarily used on upholstery, and carpet fiber subject to pet stains and browning .

Exactly which chemical is being used up.

The machine just speeds up a natural process (oxidation).

Oxygen is available @ 21% without cost, everywhere on this planet.

I can see this being handy for stain removal or even cleaning solution dyed carpet. Oxygen bleaching is still beaching no matter the source though, and bleaching isn't the same as soil removal.

Ed was selling his machine with the pitch that it could disinfect carpet as you cleaned. Turns out that sanitized water at that level doesn't sanitize carpet, but higher levels caused unacceptable color loss - just like using cleaning products stuffed with chemical oxidizers.

I know it's been asked a couple times, but do you use this for small spot/stain removal? It seems like it would be pretty time consuming for anything else. We are looking for something that could save us time for small jobs like spot removal, so this interests me.

It's not cleaning, it's stain removal.

Just vacuum for an hour first for soil removal and the claim of premium pig.

Larry, with respect to the title you chose, how big would the unit have to be to clean dirty carpet at 500 to 1000 sqft/hr?

The initial extraction testing will use this machine with a portable extractor and 1 other chemical ingredient on a cat urine saturated carpet.

It will generate Reactive Oxygen Species like Richards $80,000 equipment.

Actually, the specific ion will be OH or Hydroxyl for both Oxidation and Deodorization in one extraction pass.

The Hydroxyl ion is the most reactive oxidizing ion , compared to both Ozone (#2) and Peroxide (#3).

So Larry, are you saying I can deodorize a urine stain in one pass? a stain that is not only in the carpet but also in the pad and floor?

Wherever the the solution will penetrate . . .

the solution will eliminate the Odor and the Stain.

This is the injector system for a portable:
OzoneInjector1.jpg It hooks up to the solution line.
TM's will require a metal injector for the higher pressure.
The higher pressure will penetrate deeper.

I guess you could put an open QC . . .

and flood the carpet to get the Hydroxyls down to the pad level .

Before using the spotting claw.

I will be only extracting a cat-lady room of 50 oz. plush

in the new few days as a test.
