I think this is a hypothetical statement, so I'll break down the answer this way:

If the rugs aren't urine damaged, and you set the expectations, I've been impressed with the results from dry compound. Its messy, but safe. Not needed for the olefin one, but perhaps for the naturals.

And what if the customer said "you either do them in the home or I'll find someone else to do them?"

If they said that, and were showing an attitude of disrespect, I'd find another customer. People who dictate how a cleaner should do his/her job are rarely good ones to work with.

I would refer back to Marty's book: "The Gift of Fear"

Red Flags.....

It depends on the situation. I do clean some wool rugs in the home under some conditions. I have to have the appropriate solutions with me, an appropriate surface to clean on or at least something to protect the floor underneath. I set the customer expectations so they understand that it is not the same level of cleaning they would get in the shop but will leave the rug cleaner. Like Jim says, no urine or other major staining that requires a more thorough flushing.

As the politicians say,“ let me be clear,” I hate dry compound. But I use it. It‘is safe. But we know Mikey didn’t mean that, even though he’s the one who suggested I should be using it🤷🏻‍♂️

Taking a stupid chance cleaning all but the plastic one on site. Using dirt swirling to clean rugs will catch up to you. It's the ultimate hack move - you can't justify it by laughing all the way to the bank. It

The round one can be cleaned in the driveway. CRB and dirt swirling will actually take longer than extracting, so why not do a better job of cleaning?

If the customer says, "do it here or I'll call someone else" fine. I'll let someone else go out of business taking chances to save their customer a few dollars.

I'll respectfully disagree on the effectiveness of dry compound Jim. Host dry compound is only very marginally effective, and typically works best on grass rugs where a lot of CRB abrasion can be used. Capture will temporarily make a rug look better and then will actually create a sticky nightmare. You want a happy customer and get paid for your work, so if your choices are dry compound or don't do it, my feeling is don't do it.

As long as there's no urine I would HWE all day long. Procyon on the wool after testing for bleeding on the reds of course, using low pressure.

Hit them all but the olefin with Picrin. Dry right away with no bleeding or other issues.

The Lisa's and(unbeknownst to me) O'Halicks of the Rug world crack me up

Is everything in your life taken to the extreme..

only organic food raised in your back yard?

no off the rack clothes?

top of the line Euro automobiles only?

$100 bottles of wine?

live in a gated community?

..lol...

this "it's beneath me to not fully wash a rug t'ude is so silly considering your top cleaning wall to wall all day long because it's not practical to remove it and bring it back to the plant for a wershin.....

Does your Euro Auto get a full $400 mega detail every time or do you settle for a $25 hand wash sometimes?

but admittedly, it's for the uber high end.

if there were sticky issues or any sort of perceived marginal performance, the staff would let us know.

Sarti just completed a 4.5 day solo adventure in one estate. ALL VLM...

CRB and Releasit and OP/Blue pad/ Releasit.

Every yarn is scrutinized upon completion, no joke.

CEO of Estate Management has already contacted me to express his thrillment.

I think I've brought this up before:

Having met Sarti, I wonder why someone with that combination of work ethic, intelligence, and "lady killer charm" isn't in his own business?

Looking at those numbers and the reviews, he's got to be tempted. I am not saying this to be unkind to Sarti, or because I think ill of him. I have just seen this pattern over and over and over again for more than 40 years, and it nearly always ends up messy.

Keep a close eye on him Mike.....or have a damn good offer for him to buy your 'Cruz operation.

The viscose would be taken and brought back from a rug washing facility by yours truly

and the olefin...you guys are dddddumb if you’re arguing on what your process would be

I have been more than distracted lately.

I'm glad you have this working for you. He surely has what it takes to run it, and that will be a load off your mind.

He's seen the books and knows the back end well enough to know that 30% plus tips is better than he'd do on his own.
